Title: Err on my pitboss

I have developed a Err situation on my Pit Boss 700. The Err started a couple weeks ago and occurs when I got through the shut down cycle. It now happens every time I shut down after a cook. It seems to be still working ok during the hours of use with no radical temp swings or anything else. Any one have any ideas?

Is the unit constantly plugged in?

Hi Bentley, yes the pit is always plugged in but the power going to the plug is switched and always off when not in use..

Try unplugging it for 30 minutes.  If there is any fuzzy logic in the controller it might clear it...I am really reaching on this one, but all I got!

 You should contact the manufacturer. That should put you on record if something related happens after the warranty period, and as well, hopefully finding out about the problem.. It 's just about the only way manufacturers get a chance to correct and improve.

Did you have a fire in it? Check your temp sensor, wipe it clean, Might be defective? When the err code comes up on my Louisiana, (After a fire) means I've fried the temp sensor.

Yes silver,it happens at shutdown after my all day cooks and my hunch is the temp sensor. A friend at work had a similar situation only he had wild temp readouts ,he changed out his sensor and all was good after that until his control board took a dump. I have also noticed a strange whirring noise when the auger is activated to dump pellets, it almost resembles the sound of the igniter kicking on when the auger is told to send pellets to the burn pot. I'm kinda wondering if maybe i'm subject to the same fate my friend at work had with his pit boss?
