Title: When Do You Worry About Your Pellet Stash?
Post by: wilpark on February 12, 2018, 10:44:10 AM: I am constantly looking for ways to add to my pellet stash at a bargain rate. Currently have about 1000lbs.

At what point do you folks actively look to buy pellets? What is the minimum LBS of pellets in your stash before thinking of acquiring more?

Post by: rwalters on February 12, 2018, 10:56:14 AM: I order 600lbs at a time direct from Cookinâ€™ Pellets. I donâ€™t worry til Iâ€™m down to 2 bags as the shipping only takes about 4-5 days. Sounds like you have more of a pellet addiction...lol.

Post by: GrillinGlen on February 12, 2018, 11:10:06 AM: I used to buy bulk on group buys, these days I can buy one bag at a time for cheap enough from local sources I don't worry about it. As long as I have a bag or 2 I'm good.

Sold lots to my friends, cooked for 2 seasons and will be ordering another 1000lbs this spring as I am down to 3-4 bags.
Here in Canada we get screwed on prices even when importing in bulk :(

Post by: Canadian John on February 13, 2018, 01:02:51 PM: I log my monthly use of pellets and charcoal. That way I can purchase these when a sale comes along, buying enough to last into the next season..Winter months make charcoal harder to find and more costly. It works well for me.

What I have found, is pellet availability is not guaranteed during the off season. I had become comfortable buying pellets at Walmart. They have become impossible to find, even Academy Sports has been out of Hickory for the last 6 weeks.

I won't be caught like this again. I will always go into the winter off season with a few hundred pounds on hand in the future.

Ding ding! Same here...after having to order some from amazon prime when I was almost out last year, I decided to order a pallet so I would be stocked up

now you are going to have to cook twice as much to go through that pallet as fast as you would have with your other smoker
