  • What are the dimensions on the Elite's lower grill?  I saw 37.375 x 17.625 inches on Amazon and thought it should be deeper.

  • Nope, I believe that is about correct.

  • Hmmm.  I have a Traeger Texas 34 that is advertised as having 646 sq. in. (34" x 19") grilling area.  The Memphis Elite is advertised as having 862 sq. in.  Those Amazon dimensions give me 658.7 sq. in.

Might be with the extra upper rack on the Memphis...and without the two middle racks.

Your confusion is valid... I do not like how grill manufacturers do that. It’s including the upper grate (it must be) because here are some of the specs, which shows the main grate:

  • I would really like to find a grill with something like a 23 in. width so I can put St Louis ribs front to back and six across.

Pretty sure the new Gator pellet pits offer a 24” diameter barrel. Lots of depth!!

  • If you need to make more ribs than this, then you need to use Bentley's method.

  • 14 racks of ribs, with roughly 12 good usable bones per rack...so if I cipher correctly that is 168 bones, with a couple of sides and some corn bread that is enough food for about 40 people!

  • Your people sure are eating a lot Bent.

  • For the life of me, I don't even remember why I made that many that day..haha

  • That is 4 bones a person, I don't think that is excessive with 2 sides and some bread!

Not excessive at all.  When I am hungry for ribs I can eat 5 or 6.
