  • Thought I'd do this rather than hijack a test comment thread  :)

OK CaptJerry, you've had your unit for 18 months.

What is the condition of the powdercoated metal?
This is a sore spot with my MAK. Powdercoating does not hold up

Ok, after hosing it down with degreaser and going through a roll of paper towels, I can honestly say the coating has held up
remarkably well to my abuse. Yes, I realize this is subjective, but with the exception of where I have done abuse, (using the shelf as a work bench for weedeaters or chain saw) the coating is intact.
As stated the inside of the lid from scraping with putty knife and wire brush is showing steel, however one cook and you cannot tell.
IMO no part of the grills coating from normal use is showing any undo wear.

Now, my day is ruined. I was not planning on cooking anything today, too many left overs in fridge.
But I would not be able to sleep with a grill this clean. I'm off to grocery store.  :bbq:

  • Would have been no issue to have made this post in the discussion section, real world experience is always a plus for people seeking data.  It can sometime be negative or positive, but data is data.  Got a photo?

  • Not bad at all!  Inside, well, for me all bets are off, should not be painted anyway!
