  • If the begining of this site is anything like Pelletheads.com, we will go down a few times in the next couple of years (although Pelletheads.com did not have our IT guy, at least not in the beginning, so maybe I am wrong).  I do not want a Facebook account and this is the only way I can think of to let Members know what is happening and how long it will take.  I do not have a Smart Phone or use a Tablet.  I use my computer.  I do not think you even need to sign up or "join" me or what ever the verbiage is.  So if the site goes down, Twitter will be the place  I put the info at.

If you are a Twitter user and can confirm what I have said is correct or tell me how to use it better I will appreciated it!

  • Twitter users select people they want to "follow."  If someone "follows" Lady Gaga they will receive whatever Lady Gaga "tweets."  But they need to "follow" Lady Gaga to receive her "tweets."  So PF members will need to join Twitter and "follow" you to receive your emergency messages.

I don't think so.  That's not the way my kids and I use it, anyway.

I believe you can as I could see the one you setup for the other forum.

  • I just went to twitter and without signing in I searched on pellet fan.  No hit.  I found some people with pellet in their names, like Pelletier.  So I don't know how to get your emergency messages without joining twitter and following PF.

  • PelletFan if spacing and caps make a difference...should have found all this stuff out before I set it up!

  • I tried again without signing in.  I searched on PelletFan.  No results.

  • Oh well, not sure why I thought it would work on Pelletheads.com or here!  If ya have to follow it kind of defeats the purpose if you are not a Twitter person like me...Man I do not want to start a Facebook page, but I have no idea how to inform Members if something does happen!

  • You're on the right track.  You are a twitter member.  But you don't see my tweets (or Lady Gaga's).  But if you "followed" me you would get a notice on your email every time I "tweeted" something.

That's the perfect solution for PF emergency notices.

You tweet that the sight is down and I'll get an email alerting me to your message.

Were you signed in to twitter?

  • I thought you must have been signed in.  So to address Bentley's question, people who want to receive his emergency messages must be Twitter members.  They just can't go to twitter.com and read what he posts.

They may as well "follow" Bentley as long as they have to join Twitter to read his messages.  The benefit to joining "following" is that they will get an email notice that he's "tweeted" something.  It doesn't have to be an emergency message.  It might be, "Congratulations to XXXX for the walk at the XXXXX.  Read about it on PF."  Or "XXXX just posted her 1,000th post on PF."  It might promote PF use.
