The Memphis Pro (a.k.a. â€œLean, mean grilling machineâ€) is warming up to 600.

I'm beginning to think that a direct zone is highly over-rated. Why burn off a layer of smoke flavor by reverse searing?

As far as it effecting the smoke flavor after a reverse sear...that I guess could happen. My 2010 Memphis Pro came out before any of the direct flame inserts...but I have always felt I got a great grilled piece of meat on my MP!

Iâ€™m wondering the same thing. Iâ€™ve been using my pro for a couple of months now and have not yet had the need to use the direct flame insert. Guess I will try it eventually though.

Those steaks look awesome!

Must be something "wrong" with your Memphis. Pellet grills don't smoke like that. LOL

I know it is not near the same but I did get to have a NY strip steak, mushrooms, loaded baked potato, green beans, and a wedge salad. Might be my favorite meal (not my favorite place to eat it but it was on my route).
