Sold my RT-680 that I've had for years and was waiting on the Q450 to go back on sale. Can't wait
-
What were the reason(s) for selling the RecTec and ordering the Firecraft? Curious to hear.
-
Downsizing, the 680 was too big for me. I also like the Firecraft set up, especially the stainless steel body as the powder coat on my Rec Tec was starting to bubble.
-
Congrats on the new unit. As you know the wait is the hardest part ;D
-
After you get used to it, your comparitive comments would be of interest.. A new pit is always exciting - have fun.

Ordered on the 25th and unit was delivered on the 28th. Decided to unbox it and get all the parts in order and start on the dreaded laser film cover last night. Just completed the assembly this morning. Will do burn in later this afternoon. I must say, the laser film was the worst part in my opinion. Will try and get some pics up later.

I remember the dreaded laser film on my Memphis when I got it years ago. Definitely the worst part of the assembly but it ensured minimal if any scratches upon delivery.

Man, those are really good looking units. I hope you do post some pics!

Congratulations.
And don't forget to upgrade the wheels!
I had mine working today in below zero temps.
Took a little longer for warm up. Had a welders blanket on it.
I had an err 2 error but quickly resolved.
Worked like a champ.

If you dropped some pellets in the fire pot before you started it up do you think it may have prevented the err 2?

It may have.
I hit the pellet button for a while to try and feed more pellets.
Error went away with a little fiddling around.
Temp was around 160 when the error occurred, so it doesn't make a lot of sense since fire should have been burning.
-
It may have a certain amount of time to get to a certain temp, and if it doesn't get there the err code shows up. Unfortunately, I don't have a grill that has a pellet feed option to prime the fire pot.

Your Memphis Elite should have the pellet prime button, mine does
