Looking to buy one, not sure which one to go with. So I figured why not ask here.
The Flir One or Seek, for use with Android?
I borrowed a Seek from a customer, but because I didn't register the product it had limited uses with their app.

WOW! We have gotten to the point they can put a forward looking infrared camera on a cell phone?

I have the latest Flir One for the iPhone. It works pretty good but the temp is off. The app needs to be updated to fix it and they claim to be working on it.
I've used it to fix some cold areas in the house. I've not tried it for cooking yet.

I had looked into these sorts of things... my reading left me thinking, they were very close to being able to do something reasonably accurate at an affordable price, but in the end , I stopped just short of convincing myself they were actually doing it... I'd love to hear otherwise.

I’m not sure it would be useful for cooking. But the picture shows hot and cold areas very well. So it is useful for home improvement in cold climates.

When I was looking at them, it was with the desire to see how well balanced heat was within a grill. Mostly it was a curiosity thing, but if I were to do it, I'd like to know that I could tell the difference in temperatures of maybe 5F or so accuracy, and that the resolution would be good enough to be able to see less then 10F variations . My desire had nothing at all to do with cooking.

Next time I fire up the grill I’ll take a photo of the inside. Here is a picture of the exterior.

I would think it would be wonderful to know the hot spot on grills (if any) at 350° and max temp for baking and grilling!

I have one for the I phone, also just purchased the FLIR One Pro. I have not used for cooking but it would definitely show hot spots on grills.

I have a $15,000 Flir T360...I was a preventive maintenance guy before I retired. IR is great for a lot of things...but internal temp readings isn’t one of them!

They get very expensive, I know of a few in my area that are over $50K.

Not IT, but it would be nice to have a picture of exactly where the hot and cold spots are at different temperatures for your units!!
