Title: BBQ Sauce Review - Heinz Texas Bold & Spicy
Post by: Bar-B-Lew on January 29, 2018, 12:32:18 PM
BBQ Sauce - Heinz Texas Bold & Spicy

Sauce Profile:
1. Slightly Tangy
2. Tomato Base
3. Thick (hung from finger for 10 seconds)
4. Very Little Spice Kick (like a BBQ chip)

This sauce is a more tangy and less sweet version of the Heinz Memphis Style sauce with basically the same ingredient list. It has that thick tomato paste and molasses consistency.  There is a bit of vinegar in it to give it the slight tangy flavor but not enough to really thin the paste slightly.  In fact, I was surprised to see vinegar as the first ingredient listed as this sauce is thick.  It has hints of garlic, onion, smoke, etc. that you normally recognize in an off the shelf standard BBQ sauce.

I would use it for chicken fingers/tenders and maybe on some brisket.  I did not like it on the pork sausage that I ate with it.  It was edible enough that I will finish the bottle.  If I find that it works well with brisket, I may keep it around.

Thanks for the review.  I noticed they sell four of the sauces in a small bottle sample package.
