Oh my goodness, it has been forever since January, I was not sure I would survive. But college football finally returns in full force this weekend. Some of you may argue with me, but of course the premiere game is Saturday night -- Alabama (No. 1) vs. FSU (No. 3)
Yes, I know this is not exactly pellet pit or bbq related, but a lot of folks eat bbq while watching the games right? :pig: I think I will save Larry's Friday Night Burgers for this special Saturday night game.
Anyone else have a favorite team that they will watch come in no. 2, 3 or more below the Tide? ;D

-
No team in particular, but it may give me a reason to have people over to watch games and eat some BBQ this season.
-
I liked to think that the University of Michigan vs University of Florida game is the one to watch... Michigan being the team I will root for... Although , perhaps the people of Texas have bigger things on their minds, but maybe a bit of football can get their minds off those bigger issues.
-
Got the avatar changed, ready to roll.
-
I did not know The Blue was playing The Gators, man that is 2 big games right out of the block. And I think I saw UCLA vs Texas A&M too?
-
I'll be traveling to Lincoln, NE Saturday for 2:00 volleyball. The football game a few blocks away is at 7:00 so I'll curse the football-generated traffic jams. We won't stay for the football game because we no longer have football season tickets.
EDIT: Edited my comments.

What did you Ohio St fans think of the national anthem tonight?
-
I was at a meeting, did players take a knee?
-
I was at a meeting, did players take a knee?
No, the Blackhawks national anthem singer sang for Indiana.
-

What works in an enclosed 18,000 seat stadium filled w screaming fans doesn't work in an open air stadium. I thought it sounded terrible
-
Indiana was hanging with them the first half and I didn't think Ohio State looked that sharp, but the second half was a different story. I am looking forward to some of the match ups in the Big 10 for the first time in years. That conference has really improved in the last few years.

Still probably too slow to beat SEC teams.

If Indiana can keep up that pace they should win at least 8 games and put a good scare into some teams (like they did in the 1st half last night).

I have never really bought into the "who is the better/stronger/faster/better looking cheerleader conference" thing. Just want to see good match ups.
-
Faster usually makes a difference...I never remember if it was 2007 or 2008 Gator team, that was the fastest defense I had ever seen!
-
Many here know where my allegiance lies. Many are probably fed up with it as well. >:(
I present to you, arguably the most spectacular football stadium setting in all of the country (NCAA or NFL).
And yes, those boaters are there for the game. The Husky Crew team shuttles the boaters to and from the game with the teams launches.
How cool is that?

Go ahead and admit it. Let yer inner dawg loose.

That is a shot I have never seen, and it does really highlight the body of your post, my alma maters is not quite as big, and no where near as Iconic!

Now there is a nose bleed section a guy doesn't mind sitting in.
That's a cool stadium. I hated the Nebraska stadium experience so that now I don't have season tickets. They play awful music waaaay too loud (and we were right under a speaker), there were too many jerks around us, the seats were bleacher-type benches so if we stood we may not have had a place to sit back down, the rows were so crowded that people had to sit with their shoulders interleaved.
Then there was the traffic.
Then there was the escalating cost.
It's much better to sit at home and watch it on a large TV and enjoy the replays and expert commentary.

That's probably true of any stadium over 50,000 anymore.

Are you ready for the Alabama vs Florida game? Starts in 5 minutes.

I have been ready since January. Roll Tide Roll

Good luck on your team!

It has been a fun opening weekend so far.

Yes, I remember you have 15 TVs in your man cave right? :pig:
-
Your going to trip a breaker....LOL
-
This is one of the benefits (among a lot of drawbacks) to having a custom built home. You design what you want. I ensured that I had three separate outlets on the wall and the electrician knew what my plans were for what I wanted on that wall so he ran them to the appropriate amount of breakers. I also built the basement room so that it had that wall to put the TV's on. I am very fortunate that my Dad and younger brother are very handy and mechanically inclined. I bought good but inexpensive wall mounts from Monoprice. My brother and Dad had those three TV's hung using a laser level and my pool table assembled (behind the couch where I watch those TV's) in 3 hours. I had 2 of the 3 TVs already before I moved. Unfortunately, I underestimated how much room I had for TV's on brackets. I will be upgrading at some point and swapping out the one on the left, and at some point disposing of the DLP TV that sits on the floor for something bigger. I also need to look into how to knock some holes in the walls to hide the cables. I didn't think through that good enough when the home was built as I should have had that done with the original construction.
It sure is fun for college football on Saturdays, the NCAA basketball tourney, and the months of Oct/Nov when there is football, baseball playoffs, NHL games, NBA games, etc going on at the same time. I love October (but I am a bit biased as I was born in October and married in October). ;D

This
-
Haha...I bought that stuff, but we have yet to implement. That may be the best solution.
-
Other than a few turnovers before halftime, the Wolverines whooped on those Gators. Woo whooo.
-
Yeah, Florida looked bad. But everyone this weekend who played a somewhat "equal" opponent, as opposed to a cupcake, showed some rough spots and flaws that need to be smoothed out.
-
Now I wish I didn't go to bed before the TN/GT game ended last night. That must have been a thriller.
-
OK Z, hope you see this post.
Bent tells me that Fresno State plays the Golden Gophers next year in Minneapolis, so I see another FSU road trip in our future (although a bit of a distant future being Sept 2018). Do you Minnesotans tailgate? We can bring a generator and tables if you can bring a Memphis pit!!!!
-
Sorry Bentley...
Huskies - 48
Fresno St - 16
1 point more than the Tide difference.
The deal breaker was Dante' Pettis. This kid is phenomenal. 3 Receiving TD's, and a Pac 8/10/12 record breaking, NCAA tying 8th punt return for a TD.
It was also a NCAA tying 3rd game in a row with a return for a TD.
He's not the biggest, nor the fastest, nor the most explosive. But he has elements of all 3. He's scary good at what he does. Of course his team mates all help make this possible. 11 guys on the field and every fan is saying "kick it to Dante'. Please!" And they do. ???
9 games at least left to play, so I'm pretty sure there's another NCAA record that will fall. Unless everyone stops kicking to him. That opens up another stratagem. Hehehe...
Go Huskies! W
-
We just have no way to watch the games back here!
I am going to assume out matched would be the only word that comes to mind if I had seen it, that certainly was it in Alabama. Will see over the next 3 years if coaching can close that gap...as I just never see FSU getting that same recruit as those schools. Not trying to be mean...but you ask the recruit...you wanna go to Alabama or FSU...Wanna go to Washington or FSU?
Sorry, I already know that answer!
-
Hey Trooper, how bout them Spartans!
-
Hey Trooper it wasn’t pretty but we beat them again. GO GREEN.
-
Ugggggh... ???
-
Meanwhile... the Pac 12 gets dissed repeatedly by the TV gods (at our own ignorance and greed for cash).
My Huskies have played 6 games after 5:00 PM eastern (all of them). 4 of them were after 7:00 PM. >:(
How many members here will stay up to watch a Pac 12 football game that starts at 10 o'clock (it's dark outside) eastern time?
This never used to be an issue until the creation of the Pac12 Netwerk. May a pox be on their house forever. These :puke:'s need a swift kick in the teeth. It does Nothing for the conference (cept the money part), and diminishes the level of talent the conference has.
Point... Alabama beats Fresno State and it's a worthy win. Washington beats Fresno State (by a larger margin than Bama) and it's a cupcake win. ::)
Take me back to 12:30 starts for every game and a dozen bowl games at the end of the season.
Why does everyone get a sticker/bowl game because they won 7 outta 12 games? ???
Rant off....
-
This is the deal over here at this household
The little lady was born and raised in Ann Arbor. She's the one from there. I ain't from there
I made a DVD recording of the game and she made it absolutely clear that she is NOT interested in watching the game again this afternoon. I'm sure I'll have it on.
Go Green
Also, I'm interested in maybe attending a tailgate function in Minnesota if one develops. I wanna get over & visit Al as well.
Tailgating is very big in E.Lansing and most feel that the pregame gatherings are sometimes better than the game itself.

It does my heart good when 'M' loses. And better yet when State beats them!
-
Through Pelletheads.com and now continue with Pellet Fan...I have come to root for Michigan St, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington and Nebraska, when they are not playing my Dogs!...last tailgate I would have been at was probably sometime around 2009 in Fresno...log time! So I am hoping we can make one work in In Minneapolis in Sept of 2018!
-
Hey how about them Ducks...... really 70 to 21. I still root for them but Geez they are making it hard this year.
Of course all the injuries don't help but 70!
-
Well it was one to remember for my Alma Mater this weekend! ISU 38 Oklahoma 31!!!!!!
-
For the record, Wisconsin got hosed in the polls. No way you jump Ohio State (7-1) over an 8-0 teams, especially when OSU's loss is to the only ranked team they have played.
-
Kristin - the big game is next weekend.
Geaux Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I am not a Penn St fan at all, in fact, don't really care for them at all, but I don't think they should have dropped to #7 for losing by 1 point on the road to a top 5 caliber team.

Long time Buckeye fan and I 100% agree. Granted they couldn't hold on to a 15 pt lead in the 4th quarter but the only lost by 1pt. should not have dropped that far - 6th place at worst.
Fun fact: my son was able to storm the field after that game and was sending me pics and video with 50,000 of his closest friends

I agree. Last Saturday was another really weird day for college football.
And yet another xxxxxx day for the Pac 12. The Huskies finally got a game day against UCLA and spanked them. They remained stagnant in the polls. Next up? Oregon at home (7:00 PM pacific time). Then at Stanford (7:30 pacific).
Does anyone on the east coast tune in to west coast football at 10 o'clock PM? I have a hard time staying up that late HERE!
-
I think the Big Ten in general got screwed.
I get it that Wisconsin hasn't played anyone, and they won't really until the B1G Championship game, but to be unbeaten and that far down is a little strange.
Hopefully the Gophers beat them in a few weeks so we don't have to worry about them anymore.
-
I know it’s 4+ years away, but I’m excited for the 2022 College Football Championship Game awarded to Indianapolis yesterday!
-
Ruebenray, I hope you enjoy your last day of wishful thinking that the Tigers have a chance against Bama! ;D
Roll Tide, bent the Tigers
-
HOW BOUT THEM SPARTANS!!!!!
Can't wait to see where they rank Wisconsin now.
-
Another wacky week of football. The Spartans take down Penn State and the Hawkeyes beat the snot outta 'the' Ohio State Buckeyes.
Howsabout those Bulldogs Bently? Were it not for the Tide and the Huskies, your team wood be 8-1! There're 2 teams I love to see lose. BYU and Notre Dame. Well played Bulldogs!
The highlight of the weekend goes to UW's Dante Pettis who broke the NCAA record for punt returns for a TD. Nine times he's taken it to the house (4 this year). Been a great week for the Pettis family as his Dad is the 3rd base coach for the Astros who won the World Series last Wednesday.
The surprises are Wisco and Miami. The Canes haven't really played anyone with the exception of VT yesterday. Neither have the Badgers (love that name) but they have a tough row to hoe the rest of the year. :help:

All I was really hope for was to get a decent game. At least it was not a blowout everyone expected. It is really rough being I am living in Bama country.
-
The LSU-Bama game was a pretty good game and by no means a blow out. I think LSU is getting stronger every year under Orgeron and the coming years may be a more difficult batlle.
Bobitis, you watch, they will jump Iowa over both UW and Wisconsin!
-
and the Hawkeyes beat the snot outta 'the' Ohio State Buckeyes.
HUGE understatement.

Next year -- Sept 8, 2018 -- Fresno State Bulldogs vs. U of Minn Golden Gophers. BIG tailgate up in Minneapolis with the folks from Memphis Pro (ZCZ and others) bringing pits and FSU bringing a winning game!!! All PelletFans in the area are invited. Mark your calendars now!

I might have to mark that on my calendar.
Go Gophers!
By the way, Iowa represented the Big Ten West well with the drumming of OSU.
Iowa should be ranked.
-
They are -- 25th in the AP poll.
-
I am a big Bama fan, have been for decades. And I love Nick Saban. I think he is a fabulous coach who has built a tremendous program. And I have read all the stats and listened to and read arguments pro and con -- Ohio State or Alabama in the final four?
I can unequivocally say -- Ohio State. It pains me to say it and it is a huge disappointment, but what is fair and just is Ohio State. And I hope the committee acknowledges that.
-
The playoff committee has some interesting choices to make today based on the results of yesterday's games. I think they should establish a rule that the Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Pac 10 champions should be one of the four teams if they are ranked in the top 6. If there are any openings for the four spots after that, they should go to the next highest ranked team(s).

And the big 12 gets the end zone seats? No way USC deserves a berth this year. But they are media darlings. ::)
Who's the best? In the Pac, USC won the title. USC beat Stanford. WSU beat USC and Stanford. UW lost at Stanford but beat WSU. Make that what you will.
I long for the days gone by when we had a dozen bowl games to watch over a couple days. I could get up, watch the Rose Parade, and root for my team in the ensuing game. It meant something at the time. Today? It's lost all meaning.
One day some time ago, the community had pride in it's victories. Now we give honor badges for being average. 30+ bowl games? 6-6 is worthy of a bowl birth?
Hello advertising!
-
I'm torn between the 12 bowl games and the 50 bowl games.
I enjoy the 50 for their being more games to watch in December during the middle of the weeks.
I do agree that they have seemed to lose their meaning that they may have had years ago and the rivalries that existed back then between conferences which is why I enjoyed the 12 games.
If the money generated from these games is going back to the schools to provide better educations and/or educations to those who normally couldn't afford them, then I am OK with their being more game to generate more revenue for the schools. If it is just going into the pockets of the coaches and to build facilities for athletes or give more athletic scholarships, then I would prefer less games.

I don't have any indication that any of the money earned by the Nebraska football program is applied to the benefit of the average student. The only people who seem to benefit from the program–
- Coaches
- Vendors
- Television networks selling advertising
- Sportscasters, color commentators and broadcast workers
- Players who are attending vocational training
- The NFL by taking advantage of free player development
- Other Nebraska sports programs that don't break even financially (about 20)

DISAGREE....HUGE OSU fan here. They lost to Iowa by 30 pts PERIOD. Can say they are one of the four best teams with that lemon on their resume. True they beat two top four teams this year - but they lost to Iowa by 30. They got what they deserved. Good quality bowl game but not top 4 in my book.
-
In 90 to 95% of the bowl games, the teams lose money by traveling to (meaningless) bowl games. Who pays for these losses? The kids that go to these schools. There are probably 20 schools that are worthy of postseason play. But the lure of tv time is all that is needed to prompt these universities to travel at the expense of students creating debt to pay for educations that may not reciprocate future earnings.
PS I love college football-saturation equals poor quality football!

Hmm not sure about this. If 90 to 95% of teams lost money they would not go. The teams go because they can make between 400K to over 6 million each. I'm sure some team will lose money but not 90%.

Agreed...can't see how any team loses money going to a bowl game. Not to mention it helps recruiting.
-
I think the debate should be between Alabama and Wisconsin.
Compare those two resumes.
Count the number of wins.
Compare the losses.
Compare the strength of schedule.
Wisconsin should have gone before Alabama.
-
saw a great tweet (not mine so can't claim credit)...
"let Alabama play Ohio State and raise the stakes. Winner goes to playoffs. Loser has to take Tennessee job"
:rotf: :rotf:

Quote from USA Today
All the reverence for protocol and winning conference titles ended Sunday when the committee gave a big, wet, sloppy kiss to Nick Saban and the reputation of his program, not the team he put on the field this year.
-
No one is going to be happy no matter what. I can see why Alabama was put in as the 4th team. They were ranked number 5 after being rank number 1 for almost the entire season. Teams above them lost so they move up. The idea of one has to win the conference championship was thrown out the window last year when Ohio State got in over Penn State.

Last year Ohio St was #2 going into conference championship weekend. From not playing, they moved down in the rankings.
Alabama doesn't play conference weekend and are the first team to move up.
If you compare WI's schedule against Bama, WI's is arguably better, but no one could handle taking a team that just came off a loss I guess.
So move up Alabama for beating Mercer a couple weeks ago.
-
Teams move up and down the rankings every week during the season even when they have a week off. If a team is ranked 5 and someone above them lose they tend to move up.
I wish the college playoffs was conference champs from top 5 conferences. They would get seeded 1 - 5. Then add 3 teams based on football rankings. You would have 8 teams and the conference champs would get a higher seed.

I agree. One thing I would like to see is SEC play 9 conference games like the pac 12.

And the Big Ten and the Big 12.
Only three conferences haven't been represented in the CFP.
Those three conferences (Big 12, Big Ten, PAC-12) all play 9 conference games.
ACC / SEC plays Mercer and Samford though.

bowl season starts tomorrow
-
Howsabout those bulldogs Bentley? I think I got a new team to root for.
-
Much prefer College ball to NFL but don't have a favorite team per se.
We are 20 miles from K-State so we have followed them casually.
It is however always a good time at a game or even more fun tailgating, been 2 years for either though.
-
yorkdude, if you are willing to travel for a tailgate, mark Sept 8, 2018 on your calendar. Fresno State Bulldogs vs. U of Minn Golden Gophers in Minneapolis. All PFs welcome. Tailgate at the stadium with ZCZ and several of the folks from Hearthland (makers of the Memphis line of pits). Great day of bbq and hanging with friends.

Jury is still out as to how much equipment and how many cars/people we can bring on to the site. Parking is limited at the U. Worst case we meet off-site someplace. Will check with ITC1 as we get closer.

-
I assumed it wound maybe one parking space, and that would be the tailgate area, that anyone that comes has to park elsewhere and walk in. I figured one pit, that's it, and if room, a table to put a few things on. Folks would have to bring a folding chair or stand. Like you said, it will all depend on what Keith says! May as you say, have to be away from the stadium. Where do folks normally park that do not have season parking?
-
Nice to see the local kid have a big day in what was probably his last college football game today.
-
Big 10 (14) are 6-0 so far. A pretty good year for them as they have struggled in the past.
Just WI & MI left to play.
-
Go! Underpaid players vs coaches who make millions and TV companies that make billions!
Been fun TV, some great players to watch for sure.
Feel sorry for most of the players, few will make anything of playing college and hopefully get a good education and mentoring after football.
Go OU!
-
The Pac 12 has had a terrible bowl season. According to my count, 7 teams in bowl games and only one (Utah) won their game. I think the Mountain West did pretty well in bowl play. But the Big 10 has been impressive!!!!
-

Just WI & MI left to play.
Now 7-0. A good run. One more game to go. Big 10 has a good batch of QB’s this year. A bowl record 545 yards by Penn State.
-
I am hoping that is a good game too, and that they if they win, maybe it shows that they deserved the rank and game, and shows the "real" conferences that us peons, like the Mountain West, can play with the best.
-
Really looking forward to the ucf/auburn game tomorrow. Reminds me a bit of Boise st /Oklahoma Years back...I like ucf for the upset! (And to get our coach Frost an undefeated season:))
There are a lot of us Nebraskans who agree. Right now the Huskers are sharing Scott Frost with UCF.
The Nebraska football fans have high hopes for him: born and raised in Nebraska, played QB at Nebraska (National Championship) and now returning as head coach.
-
Today is a big day. Exciting, but sad as the end of the season is almost upon and months of darkness and despair descend until next August. ;)
-
Nice to see the local kid have a big day in what was probably his last college football game today.
Barkley sent out a nice instagram post yesterday thanking lots of folks for his time at Penn St and announcing he is entering the NFL draft. He is ranked #1/#2 by two guys on ESPN. I've only seen one mock draft and it had him going to the 49ers in what they projected to be pick #9.
Hope I can stay awake to watch the 2nd playoff game tonight. I have to get up for work tomorrow for the first time in over two weeks. :(

The Pac 12 has had a terrible bowl season. According to my count, 7 teams in bowl games and only one (Utah) won their game. I think the Mountain West did pretty well in bowl play. But the Big 10 has been impressive!!!!
9 teams total & only 1 win. Must be their worst year.

As a die hard Husky fan, I must say that this year was a total loss for the Pac 12 football program. Power 5 conference? Pfffttt...

I agree our teams stunk this year but we did make the big ten look good...
Just some info about conference opponents.
SEC opponents 86-29 or opponents won 86 out of 115 games for a winning percent of 74.8%
Pac 12 opponents 75-34 or opponents won 75 out of 109 games for a winning percent of 68.8%
Big Ten Opponents 71-34 or opponents won 71 out of 105 games for a winning percent of 67.6%
Big 12 Opponents 70-34 or opponents won 70 out of 104 games for a winning percent of 67.3%
MWC Opponents 47-30 or opponents won 47 out of 77 games for a winning percent of 61%

It was nice to see Scott Frost, staff, and team see through an undefeated season. And boy, Michigan stank up the joint in the last 17 minutes of the game. Harbaugh may be on the hot seat with alumni. Let's hope these playoff games are competitive.
-
LSU losing was a a bummer, but I sure am
enjoying watching Baker Mayfield play.
I just hope the ribs turn out OK.
* Not so much in the second half.
-
Wow...that first game was great!
-
What a great Rose bowl game. Now the other one...#4 favored over #1 hows that work?
OK now I know I will get bashed for this but this is my :2cents:
We get to have a championship game on SEC network to get 2 conference teams to play each other... In 22 years this is only the 6th time the conference foes have meet. Nice to see it pays off to spend money on a sure non conference win. You would think the best football conference would want to play the best. Not just the bottom of the SEC and pay for the some of other wins.

Yeah, I am a huge Bama fan, but even I am having trouble getting all excited about what will be an SEC Championship game. But the bowl system gets what it deserves on this one. I never thought Bama should be one of the final 4.
But maybe this will give some momentum to an 8 team playoff system. I bet if we had had 8 teams in the mix, including Wisconsin and Ohio State, we would see a different set of teams playing. And, if not, folks would have had the feeling it was more fair and not a Saban/Bama love fest.
-
Don't see how the 'Bama defense can shut down the Dawg offense. Have to go with the Dawgs next Monday.
Should be interesting. The Irresistible Force meets the Immovable Object.

Don't forget the undefeated team that showed they could play with a near top SEC team in Auburn.
-
Yeah, unfortunately given the bias, I am not sure one of the "lesser" conferences would ever be allowed into a top 8 playoff. Unfair? Yes, but that is what happens when people are allowed to do the ranking. Biases creep in.
-
#4 beats #1 and #3 beats #2...All the SEC fans will say is...see, we were under ranked and we just proved it. You other Conferences are not in our league and the only games that should be on TV each week is the SEC. Folks can still go to a Nebraska, or Wisconsin or Washington game in person, but you really arn't good enough for TV. And teams like Toledo, and U of Central Florida or Fresno State, your programs should just be cancelled now.
The only prediction I will make is if Alabama scores more then 21 points, Georgia will not win this game...and as a side note, having seen Alabama's offense in person this year, they are a grade above Oklahoma, so Georgia's Defense can give up 45 to OK...they better eat 2 bowls of Wheaties on Game Day!
-
I was bummed by OU's loss.
I don't know how much of the SEC Championship v2 I will watch.
It seems unnecessary now.
Regardless of who wins, Auburn beat them during the season when teams are in the midst of their seasons (without a long layoff) and yet UCF was better than them.
Would have made for a very good playoff if it was 8 teams.
-
It was interesting listening to someone on a sports show this past week talk about the good old days when you had to be a conference champion to make it in the NCAA basketball tournament. Now about 70 teams make it.
Then you have the coach at Notre Dame talking about how they need to change their schedule because they play too many good teams late in the season where other big conference teams play some college you never heard of in November so they can stay undefeated or have only one loss.
I think they have made a step in the right direction with the playoff system. It has it's faults for most people. Hopefully, they can learn from it and continue to make it better so there are less disappointed fans. It will be interesting to see the viewership numbers for Monday's game. Maybe if people don't tune in, those that make the playoff system will think about making improvements.

There are 12 Conference's in FBS 1-A football. So to do it right, we need 16 teams in playoffs. We go back to 10 game seasons, all Conference champions are in playoff and we get 4 at large. You add 4 more games to those schedules, just like now. But that is only if you make it to finals, so that means a program loses 1-2 home games...and no one is ever gonna give up the $$$$$...So it will never happen.
NCAA Basketball see nothing wrong with Kansas or Kentucky getting to pay Miss Laverns Secretary school in the 1st round...So this play off is seeded and Toledo plays Alabama and Wisconsin plays Fresno State and the lower ranked team gets crushed...Like I said BB has no issues with this, but then you also get UCF beating Auburn in 1st round and away we go!

I like it..but like you said $$$ loss would stop it from happening. Also would through something in about all play same amount of league games. If not SEC would only play 6 or less....If you don't make playoff then schedule 2 more games. Home Conference TV would pick them up...
I love March madness because of the underdogs/Cinderella games.

I like the 16 team playoff concept. They should do 3 other tournaments like they do in BB so that the teams don't lose as many games for revenue. Do the ball draw like they do for the World Cup.

For what it's worth here's my :2cents: worth (probably about 2 cents more than it's worth). I feel like the old "get off my lawn" guy. I don't think there should be a play off for college football. As it now stands the conference championships don't mean a thing and non play off bowl games mean even less. It used to be if you won your conference and a bowl game you had a good year and let the chips fall where they may as far as national rankings. As far as I am concerned Central Florida is the true national champ. They went undefeated and beat the one team that beat both the teams playing for the national championship. Can't do much better than that.
-
Yes. What he said. That and I live 5 miles from UCF.
-
Well, thats over with.
Maybe the SEC will switch to making the national Championship there Conference Championship on an annual basis. No sense having to do it twice. And maybe all four teams in the BCS can be SEC teams. That would only be fair to the rest of the teams in the conference. Auburn should have been included this year as they beat both these teams.
On another note I think Ohio State would have beaten Alabama last night.
-
I live in Alabama and I am tired of seeing Alabama in football. This is hard living in Alabama where you have a lot of bad Winners rubbing it in your face all the time. Some of our neighbors are the worse. When an Alabama fan says the RT words (we won't say it) we say "round the bowl and down the hole".
Even though my team (LSU) is SEC I understand completely why everyone is getting tired of SEC football. I was hoping Oklahoma would have made it to the championship and put a whipping on Alabama. I wonder what the viewer amount was for this game? We did not watch the game.
GO SAINTS!!!!!

One of the best second half's of college football I have seen right up there with GA vs OK game.
-
Bent came home from a meeting and said "what's the score?" Me: "I don't know, I am watching Antiques Roadshow". We changed the channel a few times to see the score, but I went to bed about 11. I know Bama was losing at that point. At some point I awoke to him screaming "You are one of the luckiest so and so's (I think you can guess the words) in the world", so I knew Bama had won since Bent hates the Tide.
I did read a story on-line this morning and watched a video of the final touchdown. It was all classic Saban -- a great strategist who can change plans on the run, who has an intuitive feel for what should be done during a game, a coach with true intestinal fortitude. That is what I have always admired. Plus the fact that I think it is important to embrace and appreciate excellence on all levels which is what Bama football is about. And, look at my avatar!
With all that said, I don't think they should have been in the final 4 and I don't think this title should have happened. But the committee sure ain't listening to me.
-
This is the only thing that will have an impact on those that have the power to put the teams in those final 4 positions!
I wonder what the viewer amount was for this game?

So now that they have played a second conference championship game; does 'Bama play Central Florida next week for a true national championship? I was half listening to the game on the radio broadcast. For some reason I thought I heard GA won the toss and went on defense first in the overtime. When I heard the second team with the football scored a touchdown, I turned off the game, assuming the Bulldogs won. About 10 min. later I had to look at the score on the computer several times before it actually sunk in that Alabama won. Talk about a big letdown. I guess that's what happens when you stay up late and doze off in and out of games. However, there is something to be said for what Sabin has created with his program. Congrats to the Tide. For the rest of us, there is always next year.

Then they are now glowing with pride, saying we told you so...and it will be business as usual from now on!
