REC TEC’s proposed facility would include non-manufacturing warehouse space, two stories of sales offices and 2,000 square feet of retail space, according to documents filed with the Columbia County Planning Department. It would be built in two phases of 60,000 then 36,300 square feet.

Rec Tec does not seem to have a big following here on this forum.  I'm surprised by this because they obviously have a very good product and customer service.  They must be doing something right!!

There is a RecTec owners Facebook page with a lot of activity. I wish they would hurry up with the WiFi upgrade.....

When we were at Costco a couple weeks ago looking at the Traegers, we told the rep that we had a Rec Tec and he said, "Aren't they going out of business?" :rotf:  I told him no, they have a whole new line of smokers coming out.

Exciting to hear that they are expanding even more!

the non-manufacturing thing though, one would have thought they would want to build something here.

Could be in the plans someday but you’re taking about a substantial investment. I doubt they could maintain their prices either.

Blaz’n makes their grills in the US at a somewhat similar price point but they were already in the metal fabrication industry. So the grills were almost a side project.

I will be much more active in the Rec Tec threads as soon as my Rec Tec Stampede gets here in May(ish)!

I read your posts and I'm encouraged by your satisfaction with the 680.  Do you have pictures of any of your cooks you can share?

I believe Yoder transitioned into grill making due to similar circumstances.

And Memphis. They are a sheet metal fabricator here in the Twin Cities. Dalsin Industries.

Like you guys....just patiently waiting on the WIFI for my 680.  No where near the waiting anxiety Ralphie is going through I am sure.  Hang in there my friend, the wait is worth it.  I had loaded a few pics of Prime Rib and Bacon wrapped plums last week in the Food Related area, and a pork shoulder and wings a few weeks prior to that.  In the Lamb/Mutton I also had some pics of a boneless leg of lamb cook....I believe with Moroccan inspired spices.

Your prime rib and bacon plums looked great.  Nailed the prime rib.  I'll have to check out your other pics.

As a matter of fact.....I'm heading to Sam's Club tomorrow to get me a full packer brisket to smoke all night Friday and during day Saturday.  I will post pics of the cook.  We're supposed to have a "wintery mix" weather wise Saturday so be a good day to smoke ;)

Can't argue with that!  Good luck.

That is a good and very informative article.  That's an increase of 75% floor space.  IF their 2016 sales was $11M (low 8 figures) and each sale was $1000 then that's 11,000 grills.  I would think that is a very small market share so they have lots of growth potential.  With stainless steel, WIFI, and great customer support they should do well.  I'm sure that Traeger would like to see them go out of business.

That would be a lot of grills to sell in one year.  I don't think MAK and Memphis have sold that many in the history of their companies combined.

It looks like Rec Tec has targeted Traeger and GMG as their competition.  Both of them have dealer networks and move a lot of grills.  I just hope Rec Tec doesn't over extend because I want them to stay around in case I need parts.

That would likely mean they are selling a full shipping container every other day.  Good for them if that is the case.  Seems a bit high to me.
