Title: Question For Other Rec Tec Owners
Post by: Hoosier Daddy on April 14, 2018, 03:45:13 PM
I've read a few posts lately about other pit manufacturers having "flame outs".  I frequently smoke at 180-190dg and at times during windy conditions and have never experienced a flame out.  Has any Rec Tec owner experienced one of these?  If so what were the circumstances?

I clean the pit after every 2-3 cooks & wonder if this helps.

Thanks,
Dan

I have to join in the list HD.  I too have never had a flame out and have cooked on quite a few very windy/rainy/snowy days.

Thanks all.  Yet another reason to love my Rec Tec.
Just got done smoking a "poor man's brisket" otherwise called a chuck roast.  Mmmmm good.

Chuck roast is a poor man's brisket?  Not here -- we pay about $2 more a pound for chuck than brisket!

I made some chili colorado out of chuck tonight and it was outstanding if I do say so myself!  Also used the last little bit of that eye of round.  Amazing how a piece of meat can be braised and be lovely tender, in a pretty good, thick rich sauce and still have zero flavor!  Truly amazes me!
