Title: Feel the Need to Give My Rec Tec a Pat On the Back!
Post by: Hoosier Daddy on January 21, 2019, 11:21:29 AM
Currently 4dg here where I'm at and had a hankering for some baby back ribs.  Went outside on patio, scraped the ice/snow off my 680 (was left uncovered), hit the "On" button and it slowly purred to life.  Came up to 250dg as normal and when I look outside now I see that thin blue smoke coming out of stack.  All is as it should be on this MLK day.   In about 5-6hrs we'll be having ribs for supper.

Hope you all get to smoke some too,
Dan

I used mine yesterday when it was 4F.  It was silent for almost 5 minutes before the fans and auger slowly came to life.  Once it got up to temp it was solid.  I've been leaving ash in the barrel for insulation.  Seems to help.

Gotta love the 680.  It is 10 degrees here and I wimped out.  Decided on a big pot of chili cooking all day inside rather than meat on the RecTec.  If the chili was not sooo good, I would really feel inferior to Hoosier Daddy and Ross.....hahaha.
