Title: FireCraft's demise, not much info
Post by: dclord on February 11, 2019, 04:52:34 PM
I've tried to find out what happened to these guys, they were my go to place for Traeger parts long before they came out with their own grill. The only info I ever found was that the founder left to take over his father's business, and within a year FireCraft was gone.

Too bad he didn't put a little more effort into finding a competent person to take over the business.

An interesting find... I often wondered what happened to the company and found it to be a rather shocking experience for their customers, especially the Firecraft owners...Live and learn.

The way that Firecraft abandoned their customers does not set well with me.  All the hype about a new updated pit and such was just pure *#. Must have been in financial trouble or they could have sold the biz. Very disappointed.   :puke:

Firecraft .com is no longer functional at all.

I don't know all the details, but I believe Firecraft was always housed at the same location as the Jeep parts business. At least that's the impression I got , from reading about one guy who went directly to Firecraft to get his grill.

Looks like we have a production/product change at that location.

I know that they were looking to have the new pits made in China before they shut down. I am surprised that they haven't shown up in the market under a different name.

Yeah, I guess they just walked away from the Firecraft line.  This Google earth snip supports the co-location.

It's odd because the sales guy Dan was really active on forums.  He's also the one who started the pellet grill sub on Reddit.

You would have thought with a little management assistance he could have run things for the company.

One thing I find interesting, or two things as it may be.   The sales of other grills , need not be directly tied to the sales of the Q450.   That is, someone has the grill design of the Q450, and someone also knows the manufacture who built it.  It would seem that potentially that grill could still be built and sold if someone wanted to and/or had the money to make it happen.   I have no idea if that part of the business was more, or less profitable than the sales of other grills and accessories.  I suppose they probably looked into different options before closing the doors completely , in fact for a while, the only grill left on the website was the Q450, so they probably did try to keep that going or had very likely looked into selling it still.

I guess my point is, there is a grill design, and presumably tooling at some factory to make the grill.     One thing I will say about that grill, is whoever actually made the components did a great job on it, everything fit together really well.

Here's the guy who left everyone high and dry with not even a shred of information to keep things going like who manufactured what parts.

We are open to discourse and discussion, we realize that not everyone has great experiences with companies, but it has always been our policy not allow bashing of manufactures, or individuals.  I realize the above post maybe a one time vent, I do not see any personal info in the screen shot, but I will ask you to reconsider denigrating the company or individual in any future posts!

Denigrating - to criticize unfairly.

Hmm...was it really unfair or criticizing...or just truthful and even factual? I think I was pretty darn fair in the post unless a person is overly sensative.
