SmokeHouse Pellets. From Hood River Oregon. Evidently Cash n Carry is done with Bear Mountain. This is the lowest price I've seen in years. 20 lb bags for $6.85.
While I'm fan of cookinpellets this was too good to pass up, I got 12 bags.
I still have about 50 lbs of pellets to burn through before I can offer any opinion on quality other than the visual inspection which was fine.

looks like there's more to the story. On the SmokeHouse website it says Bear Mountain owns them and supplies them. And 20 lb bags are $5.99 each.
This market keeps evolving.

Sams, sells smokehouse for $15 for 40 pound.

Sam's does sell them, but they jammed up my GMG Daniel Boone. I use what I have left over in my smoke tube. The size is bigger in diameter.

According to Raichlen they are Alder mixed with Hickory to get the "hickory" flavor. So not all pure "flavor" wood. No oils mind you, just not pure.
"Smokehouse all-natural hickory pellets are a special blend of Ozark hickory and Pacific Northwest alder. This hickory blend adds flavor to ham, bacon, pork and fish. Smokehouse wood pellets have no added flavorings, preservatives or other chemicals. The wood is carefully selected, and dried in extreme temperatures exceeding 1300 degrees to eliminate bugs and mold. The wood is then compressed, preserving purity and natural flavor."

If they are a Bear Mountain product the Alder wood makes sense...I know there Maple pellet did well in blind tests!
