Title: Oysters Rockefeller Questions
Post by: pmillen on May 10, 2020, 11:32:18 AM
I have an Oysters Rockefeller recipe that is normally oven broiled for 7 or 8 minutes.  I want to smoke them at a high temperature on my PG500 where the heat comes from above.

I think I can set it run at 600°F but IDK what high temperature it actually reaches.  What temperature setting do you think simulates a gas oven broiler?  (I think that I can get some smoke at any temperature with the proper controller setting.)

Have any of the PG series unit owners tried to simulate a broiler?  A smokey broiler?

It is about 600° on a gas broiler, 550° on an electric.  That is the setting, not sure if it is that temperature X inches from the source.  They never tell you that info.
