Title: First run temperature overshoot
Post by: Boatner on April 07, 2021, 08:57:56 PM
Camp Chef sg wifi. Set initial burn in temp for 350 and it is already 390. Is it supposed to do that?

It's starting to go down and is at 386 now...

Thanks,

Boatner

Yes, it is not a worry.

Most controller's overshoot initial set temp and then come back down to close to set temp.  Some behave worse than others.  It is part of getting to know how your pit performs.  Take good written or mental notes.

Mine was 25 degrees higher than the display showed long after startup.
I put a Savannah Stoker controller in and now is withing a degree or two.

Thanks guys... It did just as you said. Initially went up to 390 and then started downward. It hit 350 (target temp) and stayed there.  I tell you what... I should have never watched all those "pellet grill explosion" videos!  I just knew another Chernobyl was in the works!!!!
