I seen an article this afternoon that some people started ordering today, one day early. So for fun I checked and sure enough i have mine on order. Sounds like it isn't working for everyone but worth trying.

Yeah, up a day early.

You have a choice of ordering 4 kits or you can order 4 kits.   :P

I see no need for it.  If I am sick I stay home and self medicate.  If I get real sick I will go to the hospital.  I know of some people that several times a month they get tested for the sniffles.  To me it's just another statistic for the government.

I have to agree, I know people that are the same way. I have to be almost dead before I want to go to the doctor or hospital. From my understanding Fever is the main things with Rona, so I would just make sure I have a good thermometer. heck use the thermapen if you have one.

I have not ordered and don't plan to because I see no need to know my status.  I am retired, not going to be around any young children who I could put at risk.  I know I sound callous, but don't really care about adults.  They have all had plenty of time to get vaccinated.  If they choose not to, I support their right to that choice and their right to any consequences flowing from that choice. I don't fear a lot for myself because I am vaccinated and boosted and have had a flu shot. As others said, if I feel sick, which I haven't during this whole two years despite living with someone who recently tested positive, I will go be tested then.

I ordered.  They are free, took 30 seconds to do, and the government and post office already have my address.  I would like to know if I have it so that I know if I have superpowers.  I also want to ensure I stay away from my parents who are boosted but still at risk if I am positive or within CDC window for transmitting if positive.

I guess I'm an odd ball. I ordered the kits as a precaution to assure me that I do not inadvertently infect one of my guest or relatives. The latest covid variant seems to be rampant here in AZ. Also, at my age early warning of infection would probably be helpful for survival odds.

I just ordered it!  I have no need for it!  I guess I am the angry white male they speak about.  Never had kids, yet I paid school taxes, yet for some reason I never got a break on my tax return for not having kids!  Any time the government offers something free, I am gonna put my face in the trough just to get even!

Last night I read that they were hoping that it started in early February.  Not sure why they are not running these through the USPS like the covid tests.

Probably know the covid tests will overwhelm the USPS and masks would simply break the system!

That would be unfortunate.  The USPS system should be one of the best distribution systems in the country for small packages.  These seem to be some of the issues where the government shoots itself in the foot.  They have a government employee who goes to virtually every home in the country at least once a week to deliver some piece of junk mail.  Put the junk mail on hold until the distribution of the masks has been completed.  ;)

I love junk mail, I don't need to read it if I don't want to, I can use it to start a fire, and the best part is with all of it sent out and the money brought in, I am not paying 2 bucks to send a letter.

I called an ad from junk mail flyer to repair my 21 year old sliding glass door. The fix was a little spendy, but they did a great job. Now rolls better than new.

I wasn't calling for a cancellation of junk mail, but surely most of that stuff can take a second seat to more important matters.  I too have used junk mail for things - driveway coating, restaurant coupons, appliance/electronics recycling, etc.

I understand what you meant.  We have no issues setting up tens of thousands of locations to give shots, but we cant do the same for free masks and free tests.  It should only cost a few Billion to set them up. Just print more money, that's all it takes right?

Our local news said it would be 7 to 10 days from the date of order for the order to be filled.  Then I guess it is put in the USPS.  So don't know where they are coming from or how overwhelmed the system will be with millions of packages flooding in at the same time.

My niece is a teacher and she got Covid along with 7 more of her team.  She took a covid test, but she still had to go a clinic to get tested in order to get paid while she was off sick.  So what good are the tests then?  Her two daughters now have it, but she took them to a doctor to confirm.  She is doing better and her symptoms was a light fever, some sniffles and cough.  Her oldest daughter (3) is getting better after one day.  The youngest (1) just got it.

If a business is going to pay you sick pay, I understand them wanting a 3rd party to administer a test.
I'm sure people have called saying they have tested positive to covid when they didn't have it just to get time off work.

My son-in-law was feeling very poorly yesterday -- went to the clinic and was tested (PCR) for Corona virus, influenza, etc.  Tested positive for COVID.

Went home later that day and out of curiosity did the home test kit thing----showed he was negative for COVID....go figure.  I guess the moral of the story is don't place too much faith in anything.

As I understand the process, anyone that either gives a shot or does a test gets a sum of money from the government.

I wonder if that lead time will stay that low as more and more people at the back of the line waited to order and the list of open orders grows.  I am sure there will be people who think they have covid, will go online to order free tests, and then will wonder why they test negative when the package arrives 10+ days later.

Yeah, I ordered them the day that the news story broke, and have not received them yet.

I've also had a fever between 100° and 102.6° since Sunday afternoon.  No other covid symptoms.  I do have itchy eyes, sinus pressure, and post nasal drip issues.

It's only my wife and I in the house together with the dog.  We can stay away from the general public for the x amount of days the CDC is recommending.

I do have a doctor appointment on Friday for my semi annual bloodwork and annual urinalysis review.  I have scene the results same day on that.  Will see if they won't accept me in the office because I have had a fever.

I would guess not having them is due to you being in a denser population, slowing down the distribution.
Got mine in 7 days, they originally said 10, don't know where they are, but I have them.

I have not received my test either. I too have postnasal drip but no other symptoms. The postnasal drip is not new, it's been around for the last couple of years, I have not been tested recently. Wife was tested negative last week in preparation for foot surgery.

I got mine in about 4 days.  I tested positive (amazon tests) and ordered everything I could three weeks ago ... waited 5 days for Amazon, got the US ones and state of Washington ones.  I'm now sitting on about 12 test kits.   I guess that makes me a hoarder, but justified for my immuno compromised SIL and 90 year old grandmother.   Distribution is certainly better in denser populations.

Thank you.

I did get the PCR covid test about 3 hours before I went to the hospital.  Got those results in the middle of the night that they were negative.  The ER room doctors already figured that out via a chest x-ray.

My home test kits did show up yesterday.  I will be in trouble if I need to be using them in the next few weeks.

Glad you are recovering well. Do you know or suspect where you were exposed. It often grows in ventilator systems that do not drain well, or have wet or damp filters. Or dirty unchanged systems.  Not necessarily so, but it might be helpful in preventing others from getting it.

Just had a call with PA Dept of Health.  They asked a list of standard questions and that was it.  Didn't ask me where else I was.  I only went three places without my wife, who is fine by the way - place to have bloodwork drawn, a diner for breakfast after the bloodwork, and the grocery store the following day.  I've narrowed it down to one in my mind.

My county averages about 30+ cases per year.  I happened to be one of those lucky ones this year.  I am grateful that the Lehigh Valley Hospital location whose ER location I went to was able to identify and control the situation pretty quickly.

Glad they figured out what was wrong and were able to help you quickly. We had an issue in the building I work in 3 years ago that they found legionares after several people became sick. The source was from some source in the basement of the building and it was really involved to get it appropriately remediated.

Inhaled it somewhere, as it is usually not transmitted by contact or ingestion. You might want to ask the public health people if they will notify you when and if they fined a source. There was a breakout in a hotel some years ago and the water evaporator on the roof was the culprit as I recall. (I'm old and my memory, may be scrambled.)  Will see if I can find reference to it.

After seeing this, I was going to order four more.
Decided to look at the package on the ones I have and it says use by Jun 23, 2022.
Since I haven't used the two I have, I think I will wait until I use once of these.

Get them while you can, apparently the government is running out of funds for Covid  related things like kits and vaccines.

It's only about 90 days I think from the time you receive them until the use-by-date.
If I order now, the use-by-date on them will only be 30 days or so past the unused ones I have now.
So I'll wait until early June. If they are out, oh well...

I guess I am the only one under the impression that Covid is over!
It kinda seems like that, but the last time they thought they had it under control and reduced restrictions, it exploded again.
I don't go out much, but I'm still going to wear a mask when I do into a business.
For the most part, my wife has done all the shopping by herself since covid.
Figured that if two of us go each time, we double out risk of exposure.
I did go with her last time as I wanted to check meat prices.  ;D
Only about 35-40% of customers were wearing masks.

The good news is, It is trending downward.

I guess a better way to put it is, being vaccinated and have had it.  And the mildness of the symptoms, I do not worry about getting it a 2nd time!

I guess I am the only one under the impression that Covid is over!

I think it will be making a return, China seems to be shut down in several places because of it. Warmer weather is coming now so that will do a couple things. It seems to thrive more in warmer temps, and this those temp creeping up people will be wanting to get out more if they can afford to go any where now. So I expect to see it come back to the news more.

I never got to  concerned over it, in the beginning I wore a mask because I had to for many places and I had hand sanitizer in the car I would use when I came out of a store. But that was short lived when I looked at things. I just came out had my keys in my hand opened the door got in touched the steering wheel and the sanitizer bottle. Then I did my hands but never bothered to wipe anything else off, not to mention the items and bags I just carried out. Who knows how many people touched the box of Ritz crackers, milk, and meat I just bought.

I saw something yesterday that Pfizer is saying a fourth shot is necessary. So a vaccine that used to be given to make you immune now is just given to try to protect you, and it does not seem certain that it does that. In the meantime everyone is worked up about gas prices and the oil companies making billions, I have not heard much about the pharmaceutical companies and  the billions they are making from just the shot.

I just spoke with a work contact in China yesterday.  They shut down three major factory cities over Covid.  One city had 250 cases and another city had 3 new cases.  Slightly different numbers than those seen in the USA that is now a virtually wide open society with regards to Covid regulations and shutdowns.

I trusts no news from China from anyone about Covid numbers.  A country with Billion + people and they had 89,000 cases.  That is all the misinformation I needed to know their numbers are not reliable.

In case anyone is looking to order more. This program ends 9.2.2022

https://special.usps.com/testkits

I ordered some for the GF, her work sent her some to take. took one yesterday it was negative took one today it shows a faint line by the T and a purple line by the C. She gave me the directions for reading it and I just laughed. It shows lines in both places or in one place and says positive for covid, then right under that it shows a faint line by the T and it says may be positive for covid.

So who knows, they won't leave her come back to work until Tuesday and she needs to wear a mask for one day. No fever has stuffy nose and sore throat, still has taste.

I thought that it might be over until my wife got it and gave it to me. Neither one of us was very sick. For me, very weak, short of breath, diarrhea, and sour throat. Blood oxygen level was low and had slight fever. Since I have virtually all of the significant risk factors, I went to the ER and after some test, they sent home. They would not give me Paxlovid because it conflicted with some of my other medications. Things are almost back to normal for both of us now. Which is still, weak, short of breath ample back pain and almost no sense of balance. walking anywhere is a chore. I use a walker or cane to move about the house.

BTW, If you are on Medicare, you can now get 8 free kits from your local drugs store. That's 8 free kits per person per month. We went through 12 kits during our episode. We still have not tested negative but have 8 kits left and are still eligible for 8 more.

I have never taken a covid test during this whole period.    Don't know if I have had it or not since I have allergies and so often have a runny nose and sneeze.  But no sickness and I didn't stop shopping or going about my daily life and have been back to teaching ESL in person once a week since March and cooking with the church.  Don't know if I am just lucky or a person who does not show symptoms.

I had a test once only to find out I was negative and had legionnaire's disease instead.  I've been pretty active since restaurants/bars first opened up several years ago.  Maybe it's the beer and hot sauce that has helped me.  Or, maybe I have been lucky.  Or, maybe I had it and never knew it.

There's certainly an element of luck.

I got it in February, distanced and my wife and kids didn't get it.  (teacher and high school kids who where in school at the time though masking)
My youngest got it in July.  No distancing from the family, none of the rest of us got it.

It's really hit in miss with my anecdotal evidence.   My brothers family all got it together.

Fortunately, none of the test kit positive COVID's were serious.  Mine and my daughters (assumable different strains given the timeframes) were especially mild.  One day flu type, otherwise pretty ok.

I figured new ones would be better, as they would have valid expiration dates.
Ones I have now are long past there time.

On Nov. 29 I fell on my face (missed a down curb), and fractured both nasal bones. Hit my forehead so hard, it left a crease, but did not lose consciousness. Spent 4 hrs in the local overcrowded trauma center and caught Influenza A-H3 as a result, my wife soon followed, and we have been very ill for the past two weeks. We both had the Quad Flu vax in Sept. The point being, beware, H Flu mutated and your previous vax is not effective. It is easier to catch than Covid I am told. The illness was perhaps less intense with minimal temp and myalgia, but the cough is a b--tch and is lasting for weeks in some cases (my wife). Just FYI.

They're back again if you need or want them. Well they will be in 4 days.

The government spent 600 million on the program again. If you are still interested or want to check the dates on the kits you have here is the link.
