These were inspired by many posts in Pellethead's Technical section. The one that most inspired me was Zephyr's down draft mods. So first up my was my vision for a down draft:

My next mod was to tackle the issue of warping and heat retention, So I had a super flame shield made out of 3/16" thick SS. While I was at it I also had a SS drip pan and fire pot made.

Everything worked out very well for me with these mods. Temp fluctuation evened out and more smoke on food.
I had one issue left which was getting nice steady burns at a low temp without flameouts. This was cured by the addition of the first generation Savannah Stoker controller. Very happy with this set up now.
I like seeing other's peoples mods as they inspire me.
Thank you

I am jealous and in need of the 12 g ss heat shield and drip pan. Going to cost about $250. Then again that’s cheaper than the $2k for a timberline 1300. Already did the fire pot. Well worth it.
