Hello,

I have two Traeger Lil'Tex Elites, but they are going on ten years old.  I find myself repairing them more frequently then I would like, and not knowing if the machine would work had removed the joy from cooking.  So, I bought myself a birthday present a few weeks ago!  I even had the approval of my wife!

There was a short delay processing my order, but it was worked out after a couple of days.  They shipped the unit on Thursday, and I received it before noon the next day.

The assembly went well.  I think I was done in about 2 hours while working alone.  I've already had some good cooks;  first cook was pork loin, other cooks were ribs, meat loaf, turkey breast, many versions of chicken, and pig candy.  I need to get the diffuser out to scrape off some of the gunk.

Here are a few pictures during the assembly:

The box was a bit beat up.  One of the long side pieces had a scratch on it, but that one volunteered to be on the back of the smoker and I never see it now.

Here are all of the parts.  The dreaded laser film is still attached.  It wasn't that bad to remove.  I decided to remove it as I needed the part instead of doing it all at once.

Fully assembled!

In position next to one of the old Traeger units.

First cook was pork loin.  Tasted great!

I have had to think on this question as it is almost word for word what Kristin asked.  Maybe a longing for a friend, memories of how things once were, and sometimes wish still were.  A stubbornness that says, because I said it is going to be that way, period.

Question Authority, one of my favorite sayings…I think some mistake it for defy Authority.  They are not even close to the same.  And as I have had a little time to think on it, I have no valid answer for her or your question.  So I will rescind all of my comments except the non crossed out above!

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't a member funded grill/smoker be eligible for the performance test? I personally don't care what section it's in, but why would it matter how you get your hands on it?

Looking forward to potential answers to this!  Smoked peanuts sounds fantastic.

The table with the beer and meat could be my death row meal.

Side note: I live in central North Carolina and I can't think of a bar, restaurant, grocery or convenience store that doesn't sell Yuengling.  And most stores have Yuengling Light as well.  (excludes breweries).
It caught on down here before the craft beer boom and gained a foothold.

I acquired a large bag of shelled raw Virginia peanuts and want to know if anyone has tried smoking peanuts.   If you have, do you have a favorite rub/spice you use with the peanuts.   These peanuts are from Wakefield, Virginia the site of the first planted peanuts in the U.S.

And, when I mentioned a vertical smoker, I was speaking to a vertical pellet grill like Camp Chef (when they are back in stock), Masterbuilt, Cabela's, Pit Boss, etc.
