How Do You Find KCBS Competitions to Judge
« on: January 07, 2018, 07:09:10 AM »

When I went through the KCBS class to be a certified judge, the instructor mentioned a couple online sites you could go to (I think they were comp promoter sites) to sign up so you would be added to a list of available judges in your area. I don’t have any of that info anymore.

So how do you judges find out about comps in your area? Just hit the KCBS site and start calling around?

I always just went to the KCBS site and looked at what was available for the month and decided how far I was willing to travel and then looked at the website for the event which was usually posted.  The website would then generally have info on who to contact if you wanted to judge.

I always monitor KCBS new events: https://www.kcbs.us/events/new. As they show up and I want to attend/judge I sign up.

The best advice I can give a new judge is even if you are not selected for an event, show up anyway. When I first started judging events I would just show up and most of the time I was able to judge. If nothing else you can work other areas like turn in, grazing table, assist with collecting trays, etc.

KCBS publishes the Bull Sheet monthly and it lists all the sanction events.  You can get it mailed to you or they have it on line you just have to be a KCBS member.
