Has anyone lengthened their power supply cord or do you just use an extension cord?

I just use a 25 foot 12 gauge extension cord with a 3 outlet end. That way I have something to plug the Tappecue into as well. It works well for me and is less work than rewiring a longer cord on. I'm lazy  ;D

extension cord, 25ft.  Outdoor rated.   I have been advised this is not the smartest thing do to.  I know we have more electrical minded folks here to give you a better response.   Though mine has been fine 8 years and outside in PNW weather the whole time.

I have about 10 extension cords hanging on the wall near the door heading from the garage onto my patio.  Like others, I think I still have one plugged into my Memphis from a week or so when I last cooked.

I've done as the others replied, used an extension cord.

But if I were to want a longer cord on the grill, I would get an outdoor rated extension cord of the length desired. Then cut off the female end, remove the existing cord from the grill, then wire in the extension cord.

That way you have a molded plug for the male end. Plus it make it pretty easy.

That is exactly what I did on my Traeger.Changed to a cold weather ex cord as the original stiffened in the cold. NO SPLICES, total replacement. New length 2 ft longer than the original.

I always use an extension cord and it is a 50', 12 gauge cord. Matter of fact I posted a picture on the "photo thread" a few days ago doing jerky. If I am using more than 1 grill I use a power strip and just stage the starting of the pits, multiple starting amperage with the ignitors is the only thing I care about. Done this plenty of times and zero problems.

This is my set up, too. Add to it the shop vac along with the Tappecue. And the cord has a built-in fuse so if my pit goes crazy and pulls too much power it won't pop the GFI. That particular GFI is in a very tough place to reach and I'd rather not have to reset it.

I picked up the 60 ft cord a while back and love it. I keep it outside under my Blaz'n Grid Iron under a cover. I run this into my GFCI outlet on my patio and plug my units into it. Never had a problem.

Thanks for that link.  I bought the empty reel as I have plenty of extension cords.
