When Do You Worry About Your Pellet Stash?
« on: February 12, 2018, 10:44:10 AM »

I am constantly looking for ways to add to my pellet stash at a bargain rate.  Currently have about 1000lbs.

At what point do you folks actively look to buy pellets?   What is the minimum LBS of pellets in your stash before thinking of acquiring more?

I order 600lbs at a time direct from Cookin’ Pellets. I don’t worry til I’m down to 2 bags as the shipping only takes about 4-5 days.  Sounds like you have more of a pellet addiction...lol.

I used to buy bulk on group buys, these days I can buy one bag at a time for cheap enough from local sources I don't worry about it. As long as I have a bag or 2 I'm good.

I'm probably down to about 1100 pounds ( a couple guys bought some from me over the past 5 months ).   I'll be lining up another group buy if someone asked me too, or if i go bellow 500 pounds.

I start getting concerned when I get down to two bags. I currently have 300-400 pounds so I'm good for a while.

I usually keep 2 or 3 bags on hand. I buy local for $15 a bag.

I'm down to about 300 lbs & some I will sell to my boss so it will be soon! Usually go in on a pallet buy with my Brother. If I get close to running out there's plenty of places selling them until that time

I became a LJ distributor just so I could import 1000lbs
Sold lots to my friends, cooked for 2 seasons and will be ordering another 1000lbs this spring as I am down to 3-4 bags.
Here in Canada we get screwed on prices even when importing in bulk :(

I like to at least one unopened bag. I like the Traeger Competition mix from Costco as well as anything else I've used and they carry it year round now.

I wait until I've opened my last bag. If I have to I buy a carry-over bag of Bear Mountain until I can arrange a new supply. I'm lucky I don't have to go very far to get LJ's.
