I log my monthly use of pellets and charcoal. That way I can purchase these when a sale comes along, buying enough to last into the next season..Winter months make charcoal harder to find and more costly. It works well for me.

I bought a ton of cookin pellets when Amazon had them on sale.

When I run out, I'll use my local distributor.

I usually order more when I open my last bag, I don't have as much storage space as I would like, yet, and generally order 10 bags at a time.

I'm fairly new to pellet cooking.
What I have found, is pellet availability is not guaranteed during the off season. I had become comfortable buying pellets at Walmart. They have become impossible to find, even Academy Sports has been out of Hickory for the last 6 weeks.

I won't be caught like this again. I will always go into the winter off season with a few hundred pounds on hand in the future.

Ding ding!  Same here...after having to order some from amazon prime when I was almost out last year, I decided to order a pallet so I would be stocked up

now you are going to have to cook twice as much to go through that pallet as fast as you would have with your other smoker
