  • The Yoder burn pot design and open flame option has my attention.  For those of you that have used it (or on other pellet grills) to grill steaks or other high heat direct grill items, do you notice a difference in flavor between that vs a gas grill?

Gas vs charcoal grilling has been an age old comparison.  I'm wondering what, if any, wood or smoke flavoring is noticeable when using the open flame direct grilling feature on a pellet grill.

  • To me I can taste the difference between grilling with wood, charcoal, or gas. I have a Cookshack Charbroiler and to me the steaks that come off this unit is  :lick:

  • Welp, looks like steak for dinner now.  Impossible to see those pics and not be inspired.

  • I have a Weber kettle with grill grates and a ys640 with grill grates. The ys is a better flavor. It’s a nice smoky clean taste of that makes any sense. I have never had my yoder above 425 using those grates and I have the two piece diffuser.
