Sadly, the environment is the least of our problems...

In terms of bipedal life that is.

Well, I am doing a bit for my part.  Planted two trees today and have 5 more set out. Don't know if I will get them all planted today, may have to leave a few for tomorrow.  Then on to bushes -- have 6 of those to plant.  Then need to go buy some more trees and bushes and try to get them in over the next couple of weeks before it turns too hot.  Somewhat the problem with building on 2 acres of soybean fields -- it takes a lot of trees and shrubs to even be noticeable!!!  But, if I do some every year it is bound to make an impact one of these years. ;D

Everyone helps.  Just imagine if every family in North America planted a tree.  Thanks Kristin for doing your part plus.  Most of us can do something. It doesn't have to be monumental. Just put a little back for all that we have taken.

I just upgraded the solar system on our house.  Went from 24 panels to 45.  Generating capacity went from 6 kilowatt hours to 11.5.

To put this into perspective:

I live in Washington, DC so we get all four seasons with the winter and summer extremes.  Summers tend to be quite hot with humidity, and winters tend to be fairly cold, but not much snow.  The first 24 panels supplied almost 100% of the electric consumed by my family of 4 people in the months of April, May, June, October, and November.  My electric bills for July, August, and September generally hovered around $35 per month to air condition our house.  I now hope to add July, August, and September into that list.  Winter months are bad for electrical usage because the heating system is an electric heat pump.
