Direct sun affecting low temp
« on: May 06, 2018, 05:38:27 PM »

Boy the sun sure messes with the smokers ability to maintain a low temp. I’ve had it set to 180 for about 4 hours and it hasn’t been able to go below 230. I may have to adjust the feed rate for the summer. Or get an umbrella for shade.

For what its worth, without direct sunshine on the smoker, I was able to keep 180 for a few hours midday yesterday when it was in the 80s...I am not far from you.

When I have run into this problem I will just prop the door open with something.

Heck, You could almost use a smoke tube and not turn the pit on in that ambient.
