Actually the price is pretty much in line with what one pays when buying from Amazon. Now I don't expect someone to walk into this store and buy 20 bags. We all know if you are buying in bulk you can get a killer deal.

Amazon is also terrible, as that price includes shipping. You don’t have to buy in bulk to beat this price. This is equivalent to buying a 40lb bag for $47.96.

Unless you have no other choice you can find better deals.

The one good thing is these are 100% flavor woods. They have hickory, cherry, oak and comp blend.

Here they are in the flesh. Horrible price for 10lb bags
Are you sure that isn't Canadian pricing? That's about what we have to pay for "cooking pellets". $1/LB.

Remember i'm not saying they are great prices just comparable to others.

There are a couple of BBQ shops I know that sell pellets in the $1/LB price range. Actually a little more. I don't purchase from them but they always seem to have a lower stack every time I go by there.

spendy entry to the market, I'll pass.

$ 21.99 + $18.64 shipping for 20lbs

2X more wood flavor than the leading brand.

Uh huh ...

DK

Well the leading brand is Traeger so that's not saying much.
If Traeger is the leading brand then that means there will be sales on the pellets that are really worth buying.

I'm game! I'll try anything once. It sounds like they might be worth the price and if they are actually made from solid log stock and not scrap pallet's , flooring, bark, etc. they might actually be a good smoking pellet.

Lumberjack are made from solid log stock and cost much less.  There are other brands as well.  Kingsford pellets are made by Trae Fuels.

These work out to $1.20/lb.
If I buy Cookin Pellets Perfect Mix (my favorite) from their web site it is $66.00 for a 40lb bag shipped - $1.65/lb.
I know I can buy them from Amazon and get free shipping with Prime but that is still $1.00/lb and you have to wait a few days to get them.
Now I am not saying that the Kingsford are a good deal or anything, but for those of us that can't handle a 600 lb pellet load it isn't the worst deal in the world if you want to cook and find you are out of pellets.
In fact, considering the wasted money I would be better off buying a bag of these than the bags of Traeger pellets I've had sitting in my garage for the past 8 years because when I bought my first smoker I was sure they would be great. Can't make myself use them now.

You have no other local options?  I have a few Lumberjack dealers nearby who sell on CraigsList for $17 for 40lbs.

Dicks also sells Lumberjack along with Runnings and Rural King.

That’s not really free shipping with Prime. The shipping is included in the cost of the product.

That's good to know. It looks like Dick's doesn't carry them in their stores near me in the Bay Area, but they ship and if you buy 2 or more bags shipping is included. At $.75/lb, it's not terrible.

I do have other options but Cookin Pellets are my favorite. And I know how Prime shipping works, my point was that you could save by buying from Amazon vs. direct for a non bulk purchase.
I'm not arguing that the Lowes price is a good price and I wouldn't want to use that as my only source, but it isn't much different than buying a sleeve of golf balls at the pro shop or a soda at the movie theater.

Got it. Have your tried anything else besides Cookin Pellets?  That’s a lot to pay for pellets.

I normally wait for a sale. The last time I bought them they were $30 for a 40lb bag so I got several.
I am waiting to see if they go on sale again and Bentley posted a comment in another thread about something coming from Chris shortly. That was back in April so I'm thinking it isn't going to happen.
