I was hoping it would at least add some additional smoke flavor. I realize it will never produce what a stick burner does but people seem to have some success with the tubes...I am currently not one of them

Especially if your cooking over 225.
I do not know the Woodwind, but on my DLX, I raise the drip pan slightly and place it under it, leaning against the diffuser.
I feel it gets the best circulation from that point.
If it's the same set up, should work.
