  • Hi all,

    I know this has been discussed a million times before but what are the suggestions for placement of the tube smoker on the camp chef? I have always placed it on the left side of grate running front to back but feel that it hasn’t added much smoke flavor at all and the smoke just tends to go out the lid on the left side. I am using Amazen products competition blend pellets and a 12 inch tube from same company. Thanks for any help.

  • throw it in the garbage ;

    what smoke flavor are you trying to replicate?  If it is a stick burner or something else that bellows white smoke, pretty sure you are SOL with a pellet grill with or without a smoke accessory.

  • I was hoping it would at least add some additional smoke flavor. I realize it will never produce what a stick burner does but people seem to have some success with the tubes...I am currently not one of them

    They definitely do!
    Especially if your cooking over 225.
    I do not know the Woodwind, but on my DLX, I raise the drip pan slightly and place it under it, leaning against the diffuser.
    I feel it gets the best circulation from that point.
    If it's the same set up, should work.

    It should be the same yes. I can’t picture it so do have it on the diffuser plate? Running front to back? Just resting on the bottom of the grill?

  • I set it running left to right, on bottom of grill, with the slope it rests against the diffuser base.

    Ah ok. When you said raising the drip tray I was confused but if all it is is setting on bottom in front of diffuser makes sense. Thank you.

  • The tube wont fit between the front wall of grill and the drip tray.
    Just have to raise the drip tray up a bit to put tube in place.
