Bentley, you should go to werk for EKR agency. Don't seem like they can figure anything out at the old site.  :pig:
Then again, they're only running on SMF 1.1.21  ::)

Completely new look at PH now.

Ok then...

Do not go to pelletheadsdeals.com as suggested in the banner. It's totally spam.

Who didn't see this coming...  ::)

I do see that PH is now an unsecured site.  Not sure of all the implications of that status.

It has been unsecured for some time.

Puts a person at risk when logging in as there is a chance your password could be hacked.

At least that is my understanding of it.

I just looked and I am a guest? Jeez I won’t sleep tonight. The reason I say that is the last time I gandered, I was a member. That was about 1 1/2-2 weeks ago.
Freaks, all of them best I can tell.

Funny he hired "professionals" to update the site but for me, it looks like a step backwards from where it was.

Ahhh.... Twilight Zone.... they don't make them like that anymore.  Just like, "what is broken usually can't be fixed by those who broke it", ... there is a good thing going here, let that other site wallow away in silence.

I do see that PH is now an unsecured site.  Not sure of all the implications of that status.

The modern browsers have decided that any site that isn't supporting encryption (doesn't have the https:// in front) is an insecure site. In order to get rid of that label, you need a TLS certificate from a publicly trusted certificate authority. Certificate authorities are like the DMV of the internet. They provide proof that the domain you are connecting to is the domain they claim to be. There are a whole lot of rules that CAs have to go through to be able to issue certificates and be trusted by the browsers.

Yeah, it is $40/year and I wish we did not need it, but from what I can tell we do.  I simply have no idea.  Not sure if I ever even asked LSFS, I just assumed we needed it and put it on!

You could get the $40 down to $5 a year.
https://www.gogetssl.com/domain-validation/domain-ssl/

With more work you could get it for free by integrating with let’s encrypt www.letsencrypt.org

Will have to see if Adam has some free time next year to look into all of it!

Keeping the SSL on Host Gator is well worth the $40.  Don't fix it if it aint broke!
