I've only had 5 of the 20.  Who knows now when I will ever get back to Chicago on a regular basis to be able to try some of these others.

Al's looks like it is pot roast.
Johnnie's looks good, but needs more beef.
Portillo's I have had and at least at the suburban location we ate at, not for me.
Buona was a top 5 for me.

That looks good....and messy. I add banana peppers to mine occasionally as well. Looks like tomato, lettuce, and pickle as well? Anything else?

beef, grilled onions, probably american cheese topped with mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles and banana peppers on I believe an Amoroso 12" roll

I would try it with the tomato, the pickles are definitely out!

I'll take mine with onions, cheese and green (bell) peppers.  Plus as Bentley said no pickles!!

That is one thing I miss about living back east, good cheese steak sandwiches.

I am heading out of state for a few weeks so I decided to have a cheesesteak before I leave since I won't get to have one for a while.

Having lived in California for 52 years of my 60+ years, I wonder what makes this cheese steak get that designation?
