Longevity of frozen beef or pork fat
« on: May 10, 2019, 08:21:36 AM »

Anyone know how long frozen beef or pork fat will last before it should be used?  I have trimmings from meat we have used for jerky the last week to a year in the freezer - probably about 10#.  Wondering when I need to use it in hamburger, snack sticks, or sausage.  All of which I have been too lazy to attempt so far but have on my to do list before other fun things get in the way.

Years even if not vac sealed, but then you have to worry about the taint of freezer burn, but you should be able to tell if that has happened when thawed!

I save brisket and pork fat all year then use with venison grinding in January. No problems up to two years.
