Keep a log book of your cooks and recipes.

My son hand made a leather bound BBQ Pit Master's Log Book for me for my birthday.  I love it and am in process of recording new cooks, dates, ingredients etc so as to be able to duplicated the results.  He has since decided to produce them in paper back and offer them on Amazon.  Might be a good gift for friends or yourself $5.99.  I thought it was a clever idea.

In my mind, cooking anything new should be documented, good or bad..Sometimes I don't recall a cook or the technique and repeat the less enjoyable experience. Conversely, I remember a super meal and

don't recall all the aspects..For sometime now I have been logging -"The good, the bad and the ugly". It's my "BBQ BOOK"..Wouldn't be without it...Your leather bound version sounds great.Nice gift!

Hey John.  I thought it was a good idea.  He did not see any real profit in the idea, but as a competitor in BBQ for over 20 years he thought it would be helpful. My problem was always that I had good intentions to document, but never got around to it because I did not have a convenient place to write it down,(was usually just too hungry to take the time.)
Hope you are having good cookin' weather.  :bbq:

I should, so many times I have regretted not having the notes on a great outcome!

This is a wonderful idea/tip, especially for "newbies"

Write it down -
The good, the bad, and the ugly.

I use the reminder app on my iPhone/iPad to keep a smoking log by cook type, i.e., ribs, prime rib, chicken wings, etc.
