  • Shopping in ALDI’s today (getting retired will do that to you). Noticed their Rib Eye steaks in the meat section and thought I’d pick one up. Big enough to split between Mrs Z and I.
$8.89 per lb. so the price is right.

Perfect (meat was actually more red than what my cell phone shows).

Served with some brown rice and frozen peas. Just something simple.

Some parts were a little bit chewy but the main meat section was juicy and tender.

  • Thanks for the compliments.

Seems the Costco steaks are a cut above. Thicker. But more extra fat attached. This had most of the outside fat trimmed away. Less chance of a grease fire.  Plus with Costco you have to buy $40 worth at one time. Then what do you with the extra 2 or 3?  Almost have to freeze them. Then not so good.
They also have single NY Strip and Filets (usually in a 2-pack).  I think single Rib Eyes at the local grocery are $12.99/lb. or more.  Will check and let you know.

  • It looks perfect.  The Memphis makes nice sear marks at 550°.  I wish I knew someone who has one.  I'd like to try a steak from one.

  • Was in Costco today. Rib Eyes were $12.99 a lb.  Three-packs ranged from $37 to $42 range.
    Paid $8.89 at Aldi’s for a single.
