Indoor smokeless grills

I am wondering if an indoor smokeless grill is worth having especially for searing steaks etc that have been SV

Gave my son one for Xmas to use in his apartment at school.  He has only used it a few times (burgers and chicken thighs) and said it is very good.  Here is a pic of the burgers, no pics of the chicken thighs.  As you can see the picture taking of a 21 year old runs as bad as his old man's.  Hahaha.   I know this does not answer your question completely, but thought maybe the pic could help you visualize the outcome of a steak.  Thinking a more seasoned cook could get a little better sear on the meat.
