He was a true talent.  I never knew until now he was an non-credited writer of one of my favorite songs, "You Never Even Call Me By My Name", by David Allen Coe.

Yeah, co-written with another of my favorite songwriters, Steve Goodman. I've probably seen John perform 20 times or more. I started seeing him when I was in my teens when he would play at bluegrass festivals. I try to catch him every time he's in town, it's always memorable. He will be greatly missed.

I have been a fan of John Prine ever since he released his first album. I attended a concert of his at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium which included Steve Goodman.

He was another of the "new Bob Dylan's" back in the early 70's. His poetry was equal to Dylan.

As he sings in the Torch Singers Song, whiskey and pain, both taste the same, during the time they go down.

I have his original song book for guitar. I am going to have to pull it out and work on my suspended chords.

He had a very unique sound to his guitar accompaniment which really augmented his musical stories.

I didn't, but when I looked it up I did recognize his most popular songs.
