Happy Easter!
« on: April 11, 2020, 10:21:38 PM »

Happy Easter! Since there will be no public worship services in church on Easter Sunday, I am doing an all night prayer vigil in front of the church. If anyone has a prayer request feel free to send me a PM and I will include it on my prayer list each hour.

The really cool thing is that the table the candle is on is actually a swivel grill grate. After sunrise I will be grilling breakfast steaks and doing a free drive thru Easter breakfast for anyone in the community that stops by. The menu is steak and eggs with a homemade cinnamon roll. The goal is to start serving at 9 a.m.

3:20 a.m. a village fireman stopped by, said I was blowing his phone up! Apparently people are asking him why there is some dude sitting around a fire in front of the church. Then he asked if it had something to do with Easter!

I said yah and invited him to come back for breakfast. He just said be safe and headed back out. However something tells me he will probably not be back at 9!

Two sheriffs just drove by but neither stopped, must have bigger things to deal with.

On the plus side, starting to get a nice bed of coals.

I was really glad I did it. Got to see a lot of people  (from a proper social distance) that I have been talking with, but had not seen in several weeks. It was a good way to connect with folks.

Served about 70 breakfasts. The meat was a top sirloin. Its starting weight was almost 20 lbs. I am a firm believer in thinly sliced top sirloin. It has to be one of the best meat values around. I did pay about $1 more per pound for this one than I could get elsewhere, but I wanted to support our local butcher. Had it sliced somewhere between a quarter an half inch breakfast steaks. A friend gave me some nice sweet cherry wood to grill on.

Who was that masked griller?

Sorry about the upside down picture. Tried to fix it and ended up with two upside down! I guess that just shows we are living in an upside down world today!
