  • I purchased a new Davy Crockett a few weeks ago. I have been cooking with it several times a week. Hot cooks, Low and slow and everything in between.

I have noticed that no matter the temperature or time of the cook, The Davy Crocket  imparts a stronger smoke flavor in the meat tan does my old Daniel Boone.  Not bitter or anything. Good clean smoke flavor. I like it a lot!

Anybody else have the same experiance?

  • Great results.  What can you attribute it to?

  • I don't know for sure. I know that when they are running, the DC puts out more visable smoke than the DB.

I imagine it might be differances in the controllers. My DB is over 7 years old. The factory sent me a new controller after I had it for a yar or so. It is not wifi so you can't upgrade the firmware.

The DC has the latest firmware upgrade downloaded and it seems to work very well.

  • My DC puts off more visible smoke than my Daniel Boones do also.
Not sure I have ever noticed a flavor difference though.

  • Is it as simple as the same smoke in a smaller compartment?
