That T-Bone is $34/lb.  I think that the prospective buyers are limited.

You would probably be surprised how many people buy that stuff or buy it for customers, clients, etc.  That is probably a fair price if it is top shelf meat because you probably pay $60-$75/lb for a great steak in a great steakhouse nowadays.

And I am fully well prepared that maybe the outcome.  I guess it is the Quest to say, yes, I have eaten it and can give an educated recommend pro or con,,,and as I said for some content.  I have cheeped out on the site over the last 18 months.

We had an Omaha Steaks outlet here local in Dallas. I tried them out some years back, was not impressed with any of the meat. Small portions, no real flavor, and over priced.

Just my 0.02cents worth.

I think back to the recent trip to Maine, we bought shelled Crab for $27/lb.  That equals $1.68/oz.  They wanted $60/lb for shelled Lobster, that is $3.75/oz.  (That is never gonna happen for me!)  I took a deep breath when I saw the SRF prices for their Beef. They want $45/lb, for Prime Rib-eye which is $2.81/oz without shipping.

The prices make a cheap screw like me cringe, but I just gotta get to the point where I click the button.  I am looking at something like this for the 1st go round. They are out of the Skirt Steak, I think I will wait till it is in and substitute it for the Sirloin.   Assuming it is in in a few weeks, I am to be notified when they are available, if they are not in by mid September i will just get this!

Would be enough to sous vide half and traditionally grill half!

My interest in mail-order meat, small to begin, vanished with Costco's expansion into prime beef,  Priced at around 1/2 mail-order, not frozen and no shipping.  Plus, you can pick your steaks!

I am pretty sure my research will show that between Restaurant Depot & Costco, this is exactly right!  If it takes a few $$$ to make me know that for certain, so be it, its not like I have to eat BBQ to do it!    :pig:

Wonder how the local butcher shops would compare to mail order?  Was at our local establishment yesterday and saw rib-eye at $20.00 a lb.  Wasn't curious enough to get any.  Just got some breakfast sausage.

I'm a SRF fan with a sample size of two (tri tip and brisket for which I posted results on PF).  But only if I'm feeding for a special occasion.  With you two, it would be tough to justify the price of a gold brisket.

Will be more comment then testing.  I wish there was a scale for tenderness and flavor, things like that.  I guess you could come up with a tenderness scale, but taste, never gonna happen, not as long as people keep telling me that lima beans taste good and they really love the flavor of liver n onions!  I think the journey might provide new info for some, and validation for info that is already known or suspected!

We could probably come up with a tenderness scaled -- can hardly chew, tough, stringy, ok, cuts with a dinner knife. soft, mushy?

I am now paying $20 for prime New York strip steaks at my local butcher was $25.
Is it worth for 2 or 3 1lb. steaks?
YES, and they cut and trim how I like them

Years ago I had training in Marshalltown Iowa. The company always brought us to Rubes Steakhouse for the final dinner.
Always had coolers packed for my return trip. The beef is the best I've ever had !!  They do ship !!  Not a big company that
advertises nationally, but I guess they don't have too !!!  You will not regret the order !!

I'd become a vegan before I'd pay that much for a single steak.  :'(

I guess I don't have a problem paying for what I find as extra ordinary.....  Have you been out to a good steakhouse lately ??
My last filet dinner was $60.

I have looked at these type of companies before, but backed away after seeing the prices.  I bought two prime ribeye's a few weeks ago from Sam's the first time ever and they were fantastic.  But they were $18 per pound.  I was able to pick out which one's I wanted.  I believe the prices at these companies are more than that plus you cannot see what you buy.  I want to see what I buy.

I've never been to a place above a Texas Roadhouse/Longhorn class(to me, that's a "good" steakhouse), and I reckon I never will! I cringe when I have to pay $20 for a steak!  ;)

I didn't either until about 20+ years ago.  IMO, there is a significant difference in taste and texture.  I may go 1-2 times per year to celebrate something.  To me it is as different as eating my own BBQ versus eating it at Chile's or Applebee's or some place like that.
