I'd become a vegan before I'd pay that much for a single steak.  :'(

I guess I don't have a problem paying for what I find as extra ordinary.....  Have you been out to a good steakhouse lately ??
My last filet dinner was $60.

I was referring to just buying the steak.
Eating out is completely different.
I spent about $200 once for an anniversary dinner, plus the limo.

You would probably be surprised how many people buy that stuff or buy it for customers, clients, etc.
I suppose.  It may be like the high prices to attend sporting events.  Many of the ticket holders are not families but businesses that use them for business entertainment.

That is probably a fair price if it is top shelf meat because you probably pay $60-$75/lb for a great steak in a great steakhouse nowadays.
True enough, but I generally feel that I'm paying for more than just the steak.  Some of it is intangible, like ambiance.

I saw Sam's and my mind immediate went to Brisket...and I though, man, beef really has gone up!  That seems like a good price to me for USDA Prime, if you have any left, next time you care off a steak, take a photo if you would be so kind.  I would love to see the marbling!

I bought two prime ribeye's a few weeks ago from Sam's the first time ever and they were fantastic.  But they were $18 per pound.

I've never been to a place above a Texas Roadhouse/Longhorn class(to me, that's a "good" steakhouse), and I reckon I never will! I cringe when I have to pay $20 for a steak!  ;)

The last steakhouse I went to was Big Mike's in Orange Beach, AL.  The ribeye that I paid at least $20 was bad.  About a third of it was fat.  I like a little fat with my steaks, but not that much.

Bentley, here is a pic of one's that I got at Sam's last May.  I prefer what is called the Delmonico steak up here which is the center of the ribeye with the fat trimmed off of the outside of the prime rib cut.

This is a Restaurant Depot USDA Choice.

Close to your marbling?

Yes, they look pretty close.  At that time, I think it was only $10/#.

A few years back (sigh getting old here) I paid about $1400 for two 50 yard line 3rd row seats in Denver for Broncos tickets.   The couple next to us were family members of season ticket holders something like $180 a piece.  Do I believe I got ripped off by NFL ticket exchange (well they did take their cut ...)  no!  It was my wifes 40th birthday, we flew in for the game.   This was on her bucket list.  How lucky am I to have this experience?  We're not talking every day experiences.  I'm ok doing something crazy expensive a few times a year ...  for food experiences and BBQ experiences at home ... or concerts and games.

I had way too much fun chasing down these images from 2015.  Worth every penny.

I remember a Member on Pelletheads had season tickets to the Cowboys right after they opened the new Texas Stadium.  He was selling tickets for one game he had 4, I do not believe they were great seats, 2nd level closer to end zone.  This was probably 8-10 years ago and he want $430 a ticket I believe.  That is when I knew my in stadium professional sports days were probably over.

I know I took my uncle to a Dodger game in 2008, one of the owners of the Insurance company I was working for had season tickets.  1st base line, about 10 rows up and they were $125 each!  Seems like a bargain now!

Tickets I had a month or so ago to an MLS soccer game in Philly were $50.  Tickets I had to a punk rock concert that was outdoors general admission standing on grass were $65.

A family of four may have to pay the equivalent of a month's rent or so to go to a major sporting event or large national touring musician arena or stadium show nowadays.

I've been very fortunate to have been able to go to some big sporting events through work for free - 3 Super Bowls, 2 World Series games, a Wrestlemania, an NHL Winter Classic game at Wrigley, etc.

If one is patient, you can score some good MLB tickets at good prices. I checked one of the reseller sites, and I can get tickets about 12 rows from the 1st base line at Busch Stadium(granted, it's a day game against the Tigers) for $19ea. + handling charges. Not bad.

I was thinking as we cool down and go into Fall, I would be more inclined to use the Memphis Pro.  I also thought to generate some content for the site I might try some food from places like Omaha Steaks and the like.  I know we have had discussions about them, but to the best of my knowledge I have nevr had them and was thinking a review might be interesting.  Food reviews are very subjective, but I believe you all trust my general knowledge on food and I believe I could be some what objective in certain criteria.

I relly don't know of any "food delivery" places other then Omaha.  Do you all have any other suggestion of something like it?  Would there be certain things you would like to see.  Got a little extra cash I am will to shell out, specially when it is something I enjoy eating.

So any input would be welcome.

Meat has really gone up in price this summer.  In April, our local Costco had prime ribeye steaks for like $21 per pound. They were over $26 this past Friday.  Prime brisket is at $5.29 per pound.

Nothing yet.  Don't want to order anything till we are ready to eat it.  I also thought I might use Costco beef as a control (so that recent post was a bummer).  I realize that not everyone shops there, but I think it might be good to have a cut of each as a comparison.

Will start with Omaha, will probably be disappointed, but better to go in with that attitude then one of Pink Cloud mentality!  Then move on the SRF, then some of the other suggestions till my bank account dries up!

Want it to cool down significantly here before I want to cook outside or even eat hot beef dinners.  Probably looking at 2-4 weeks before I do anything!
