  • I have been in a cooking funk for the last couple of months. It has been a while since I have fired up the pellet grill. Not exactly sure why. However I had a souper idea that peaked my  interest and restored a bit of motivation.

I smoked a half bushel  of tomatoes at 375* for about 2 hours with some olive oil, salt, pepper, and three heads of garlic. When they were done I removed the tomato skins and blended the tomatoes with the garlic, caramelized onions, and fresh basil. I got about 5 quarts of tomato soup and a quart of tomato juice. I was pleased with the results.

The hot sauce thread was also inspirational! Last week I ended up wit an assortment of hot peppers, so  it looks like a batch might soon be in the works.

  • Use a few of those to make a great vinaigrette, creamy salad dressing or salsa.  Yumm.
