Suggestions for sandwichs for one person
« on: July 03, 2023, 02:04:15 PM »

The GF's grandmother passed Friday. She has asked me to make somethings to take to her Pap so he has something to make sandwiches out of.  She had me make him spaghetti the other week, and I used macaroni and also made him a meat loaf. I sliced it and vac sealed 2 slices to a bag, put some of the macaroni stuff in a container and he froze some of it.

Now she wants me to make him something else for sandwiches.

I am not sure what all things he eats or doesn't eat.

right now thinking of making him some sandwich spread, and maybe a few burgers I could seal some of those up precooked for him.

Open to ideas I can run by him if anyone has any.

Pulled pork would make a bunch of sandwiches.

Pulled pork, pulled beef, burgers, sausages, hot dogs - any of that stuff is fine vac sealed and reheated.  Some stores have salami, ham, pepperoni, cheese, pre-sliced packages for use in making sandwiches, hoagies, etc.

Also, you could go buy some of those black rectangle containers with the clear lids and make stuff of to freeze, thaw, and reheat in microwave.  I am always doing that for myself with different versions of pasta with chicken, pork, ground beef/pork, etc, mixed in with some peppers, mushrooms, onions, and marinara sauce.

I always think ham and cheese is a classic.  Also turkey.  I love tuna.  Seems to me that would be something easy he could make himself.

It is, but hes in in his late 70's and his health isn't the best, been taking care of his wife of maybe 45 years, and right now is just lost and doesn't think the straightest at times, but that isn't anything really new for him.

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I know a few things he likes, not sandwich stuff but will make him some of them until he gets himself back on track.

IMO the classics.

Deviled ham.
Egg Salad.
Chicken Salad.
Tuna Salad.
Sliced pork.
