It'll be 18 years for me this December.  We don't need a special occasion.  I cook whatever she wants on the pellet grill when she asks.  Usually chicken.  And I do most of the cooking in the kitchen since I am semi-retired and have the time.  Learned a long time ago to do what she asks.

Been married a little over 23 years and together 28 years.  I cook something on the pit if she wants, or we go out if she wants.  Nothing is set in stone, it just depends what her preference is on that particular day.

been married to the boss for 27 years.  I am the primary cook so most every night is special.  We go out once or twice a month.

I think I can cook a steak as good as them, their quality of meat is hard to get.  But I have the same problem with Bacon, I have yet to get to store bought quality!  Getting close on last batch!

I confess 16 of our 17 year anniversary dinners have been at Ruth's Chris.  I can make a mean steak, but I just cannot beat Ruth's Chris.

Been married 32 years.  For special occasions, the celebrant (i.e. birthday person, etc...) gets to decide.  Sometimes my wife asks me to make her dinner, sometimes she wants to go out and have a nice dinner with no cooking or cleanup.

For our anniversary, we just want to enjoy each other’s company, so we typically go out for a nice dinner.

Wife requested I make prime rib for her birthday dinner, which challenged me to expand my culinary skills.  For our anniversary, we chose to go out.  We both work at home and have kids, so getting away at a restaurant for a few hours is greatly appreciated.

We just celebrated our 40th in August, I grilled at home. I had fresh Maine lobster over nighted. Steamed Lobster, Smoked/Grilled (reverse sear) 3 lb Cowboy steak (slat pepper seasoning), baked potato (loaded), grilled asparagus and a Pinot Noir. I did the cleanup as well. She has put up with this cranky guy for so long, she deserves everything I can do for her. A very lovely, quite evening for the two us. :)
