  • Has anyone installed dome thermometers on their GMG?  I was thinking about putting one on each side, but I typically use my thermal cover so that would kinda defeat the purpose.  Currently I monitor the temp with my Thermoworks smoke and have the ambient temp sensor in the back and middle of the grates.  Would dome thermometers add any value?

    Thanks,
    Jon

  • IMHO you would be wasting your time and money.  You already monitor your grate temp who cares what the temp at the top of your unit is your not cooking up there.

  • The most worthless temp reads for my Traeger Jr.?

The digital read and the dome. Neither of them are in any way reliable.

  • I put this one on both the DC and the Select and they seem to track fairly well. Truth be told, I just installed them for aesthetics.  ::)  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008N4AFI2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  • There's a reason they're called hood ornaments.
