  •  I thought knowing the volume to weight ratio of pellets could be helpful in selecting a storage container.

      * 1 cu.ft. = ~40.5 lbs.

      * 20 lbs. = ~ 1/2 cu. ft., or 15 us qts., or 3 3/4 us. gal.

     I use Sterilite, 15 qt/1L clear plastic totes,#1494..They hold 20 lbs of pellets leaving an approximate 3/4" space at the top.. It works well as the Traeger Lil Tex and current Memphis Pros hoppers hold 20 lbs. when nearing empty. These totes are easy to cary,

     store and have a tight fitting lid.

  • I use Kingsford charcoal containers that hold 40# of pellets.  Bought them on closeout at Target about 5+ years ago for about $7 each.  The pour lid works great on all my grills except the Blazn that has a small pellet hopper opening.

  • I use a 5 gallon bucket with lid from Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, Tractor Supply...
    About $5 each.
    John thanks for the weights & volumes.   :)

    I have some made by Buddeez that I got from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are clear and have 2 different size openings. The smaller opening works great on my Blaz'n.

  • I went to the pet store.  Bought two sealable containers with wheels.  Had over 3 years now.  Holds #50 of lumberjack.  One MHC, other OHC.

    Roll to the smoker, have a 2 qt juice container no lid, great for scooping pellets.

    I have an ice scooper that I use to put pellets from the larger container into a cereal box container.  That pours great into the Blazn.

    I have some similar pet food container with wheels that holds 80# of pellets.  I probably had some pellets in it for 5 years at one point.

    I like this. Might have to expand my containers.
