Spring Break found us in Mexico City.   After 5 days I had about enough of tacos and fajitas, needed to find some BBQ.  I found it!

We had a wonderful week in Mexico City.  Perfect weather, lovely people, full of history and architecture.  Now for some BBQ.

Ribs.   Not even remotely competition type USA BBQ.   A rub that I couldn't place, way overdone.   My family absolutely loved them.  It was the best on the plate.   Maybe some heat and sweet, but more Chinese 5 spice than Carolina.  These really were a winner, just not what you'd expect.

Kielbasa sausage.  Very good, jalapeno and cheddar. 

Brisket, good but not great.   I asked for the point which I enjoyed the fattiness.  It had been sitting for a bit where I then discovered their BBQ sauce which was excellent.

Pork.  Way too smokey, not fully pulled.   OK with sauce, family mostly didn't care for it.

Sides.   Potato salad with dill was good.   Cole Slaw was creamy also good.   Beans were not worth mentioning which surprised me, no heat, not much of anything.  My youngest daughter had two boats of the mac and cheese, that gives it an excellent rating. 

A dozen beers on tap which was an incredible feat in CDMX. 

Overall an above average BBQ joint in Mexico City of all places.   Don't get too bent out of shape about the name, Pinche Gringo BBQ, it's all in good fun.

Thanks for the nice report and review.  Chinese 5 spices was very popular on the Calif Competition BBQ circuit about 10 years ago.  Never care for it myself, but a lot of winning teams used it.

We are all different, I get that, but I would be hard pressed to pick BBQ in Mexico over indigenous food!  Although their sausage does look tasty!

Hey Mike, short answer is no. 

Mexican Pyramids were built about 200 BC.   They aren't even sure what culture built them.   Prevailing thought was that they were solid.  Now with some sort of xray technology they've found tunnels between the pyramids and a few open spaces that have never been accessed by modern man.   

These are very different structures than Egyptian Pyramids.  The tops are flat, used to house wooden temples at the top which are long gone.
