Whole Lamb
« on: February 23, 2018, 09:20:14 AM »

Has anybody ever cooked a whole lamb?

They have them at Restaurant Depot and I considered getting a pit large enough to fit one.  Or a small pig (I've seen videos of 40ish 50ish pound pigs on RT-680 and GMG JB).

I originally saw a whole lamb being roasted in the parking lot while tailgating at a Colorado football game.  It was a sight to see.  The pit was a charcoal/wood pig cooker (what we call them in North Carolina) and the whole lamb was on a very large rotisserie.  It's too bad I didn't know those people.  It looked fantastic.

I ended up going with the Rec Tec Stampede which has a 30" x 19.75" cooking surface.  I doubt I could fit one but they are headless and maybe removing the shanks would make it work.

Anyway, curious if anybody has ever tried it or seen it.

Did you ever give this a try? If I get brave, I am thinking about doing one next week, otherwise I will go leg of lamb.
