Got to be heavy duty at 245 lbs.
It's 100lb heavier than my CC DLX

Wonder if Bentley and Kristin would want to do a performance test on one once they are out in the wild with the cost covered by another raffle.

Curious that Lowes removed it from their web page. Looks like the only seller is the big A as a long delivery item (1 to 3 months).

If it is 245 lbs, the cost of packing it up and shipping to a raffle winner makes it prohibitively expensive.  We could test on PH because manufacturers paid for shipping and then either paid to ship it back or had a local distributor come and take it as a demo model.

How about members buy / donate enough to allow you and Bentley to test it and then you and Bentley give it to a local fire agency (or other first responder agency / deserving group).
I've purchased tickets in the past without any real expectation of getting anything more than your and Bentley's review of the product.

Note, not my original idea. Can't remember who suggested it for another product.

Just saw it today at Lowe's. It has very tall cooking chamber, and I noted both the external lever for changing from sear to smoke mode. Also, there appears to be a fire pot dump as well.  The control appears to be digital but not PID, and the hot rod is not ceramic. However, it seems to be well put together, and very large capacity for $599.  It will depend on the performance reviews, of course. Compares well with the Pit Boss product that Lowe's  also sells at about the same price.
Will be nice to see some performance reports.

It is quite stout. Looks like mostly 16 gauge except for the lid which is heavier. The grates are cast iron which accounts for some of the weight, and the main barrel is quite large vertically.  With the smaller shelves removed, you could probably do a small whole pig.

Read everything you can on here.  There is a lot of good info from folks who know what they are talking about.  Don't be afraid to ask questions in a PM or in a certain pit section.  I learned quite a bit from the good folks on here before I was able to get a grill.

 Welcome J_. Until you have been there, it's hard if not impossible to know the answer as to what pit is the best. There are so many variables from cost to just feeling good about it's performance, durability and

ease of maintenance.. All I can say is have a good look at the pit (s) you are considering, hands-on look that is. Pay special attention to the parts below the drip tray. How easy is it to get at, as pellet pits

require fire pot cleaning, ashes and grease.. I don't  think anyone of us hit the nail on the head purchasing our first pellet pit, at least I didn't.

Try and eat a few times off of any pellet unit that you can before you buy if that is at all feasible...

Saw it recently at Lowe's.  Lot of bang for the buck with big time room and wide heat range. Always worth waiting for user reports tho.

Looked at it again at Lowes. It appears that they have made some improvements.  The handle that changes from grill to sear works more easily. The quality control seems a bit better to me. Anyone have one and can tell us about it?
