From freezer to smoker

     HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE...
   
              Has anyone put frozen meat on their smoker? Specifically Baby Back Ribs.
              Did they take longer to finish? Any different in taste or texture?
              Going straight through at at 240.

Not ribs, but a butt.  No difference in time, but such a long cook, no way to tell.  I doubt you would add much more then 30 minutes to a rib cook at 240°.

I have wondered the same question, but never tried it. Seems like you should be OK. I Look forward to hearing of your results.

I remember someone on the old site putting frozen seasoned ribs in their pit the night before and having their wife start it at a certain time so they would be ready when he got home from work.  Seems like he said the high that day where they lived was 34 degrees, so there was no danger of them thawing out in his pit overnight.  He had done it before and had the times figured out pretty good.  I thought at the time I'm sure glad we don't live where the temps are like that.

     I went for it! On at 11am @ 235. Silver skin came off after a couple of minutes of being unwrapped from 
     plastic.
     I have a Traeger 075. Tight fit for 8 slabs. Had to elevate with racks to get them to fit.
     I will keep you all posted.

I have done ribs right from the freezer, put them in for a bit to get some of the frost off so the rub would stick. came out great, just took a little longer.

  I went 7 hours at 235. Turned out great. Really no difference just a little longer time.

I've done them frozen starting out at 150 for an hour and half and then 275 for 1.5 hours, added salt pepper and a little rub, double wrap and added maple syrup and brown sugar. Took them to around 205 it temp. Took about 4 hours total. turned out great!!
