reubenray, I am thinking about heading to Clarksdale for the Juke Joint Festival in April.  Are you going back?

Probably not.  I will be moving to NW Arkansas the last week of March.  I would then have to find us a house which may take a while.  We will live in our motorhome while the house hunting is going on.  I would not be surprised if the Festival is cancelled again.

I would love to be able to do the appointment route, but I don't have that option yet.

I got my first Pfiezer shot a few days ago.  On the second day after it I was sooooo tired.  That night I slept for 12 hours.  Later in the day I felt somewhat tired again.  Many people I've talked with had a similar
 experience.

Curious if any who are getting the vaccine that have been avoiding social gatherings, and who are willing to answer this question.  After you receive the 2nd shot will you be ready to interact socially again?

Not in a normal manner, I'll still practice social distancing and wear a mask when appropriate, but I'll be a lot less concerned about shopping and having dinner with friends/family.

A newscast a few days ago advised people who have had the vaccinations that they now have protection from getting the virus but they may still be able to give it to someone.  So the instructions are to wear a mask when in public to prevent giving it to unvaccinated people.  They may omit wearing a mask if they know that everyone they are in contact with has been vaccinated.

My wife and I have had the 2nd shot and should be at max protection mid week next.  We will still wear masks (although totally worthless after immunity is established, since you should not get the disease, not incubate, not carry, not disperse the virus.  (CDC says you may still carry the disease, but I believe that is while you are building immunity. About 4-5 weeks). Reason for wearing is to reassure those around us that we are being careful, cause they won't know we are vaccinated, unless we all wear a sign! You can't spread it by brushing up against it and carrying it to someone else. But we do plan to be more active outside the home.  Eat out more often, visit family and some friends and still maintain distance when practical. We have always been frequent hand washers, and will continue. Those that won't take the vax will eventually end up in a society that has no real place to harbor the virus, as most of us will have had it or the vax. It will mutate often as most Covid viruses do and if living we will get the new vax whenever it is avail. Our answer to your question then is "Yes, we will be more interactive, very soon, and more so as the public becomes more comfortable together"
Will we ever be the same?  I don't think so.

We will start playing poker again, but that won't be for some time, as a few of the group are under 60 and won't be vaccinated for some time.
That said, the caveat is that if the number of new cases/day isn't down to just a couple hundred we probably will hold off.
Right now NM is bouncing between 500-1000 new cases/day.
Death toll/day has dropped, which is good.  About 20-25.

On another note, there are scams with the vaccinations going on.
In the USA, vaccinations are FREE.  You should not be asked to pay.
Those with insurance, are covered by their policy, those without get it free.

I'm still waiting for my group to open up for my shots. I have been limiting my social gatherings. After I receive my shots I plan on doing more interaction with others. I will start back flying then as well. Until then for me personally it isn't worth the risk, no matter how small.

Not a bad reason to continue to wear a mask.

FWIW, I just read on the internet that the Pfizer vaccine is 90% effective three weeks after the FIRST shot. That increases to 95% two weeks after the second shot. Remember, I said that it came from the internet.  ???
